This is about some one cheating on him. The punch bowl is the place that she got drunk and slept with someone else. The song has a somber bitter sound to it, i think to represent the feeling getting cheated on. He seems very angry with her, more because of her excuse of being drunk. But he points out well you were at the punch bowl, drinking with other guys and putting her self in such a precarious position.
