Rondeau Lyrics
run backwards my mind and it's all just a blur
just the same old Saturday evening possessions again
it's been five years long and a matching opinion to match
your electric upsidedowninsideout and I've always maintained
that the girl in your eyes can't be trusted
but my ears fall on deaf words
run backwards my mind and it's more than a blur
just this same slowdance of the kitchen and then
some years late a matching obsession to match my collection
but it's not what it seems and I've always believed
if there were one good thing that came out of this
it'd be you
but my words fall on an empty plain that was never a home
you're all I see
just the same old Saturday evening possessions again
it's been five years long and a matching opinion to match
your electric upsidedowninsideout and I've always maintained
that the girl in your eyes can't be trusted
but my ears fall on deaf words
just this same slowdance of the kitchen and then
some years late a matching obsession to match my collection
but it's not what it seems and I've always believed
if there were one good thing that came out of this
it'd be you
but my words fall on an empty plain that was never a home

this is a very confusing song...interesting lyrics though. it seems to be about a relationship that isn't working out but is something of a obsession.
The more I read this, the more it seems like a message in code. There are key words and odd phrases that stand out....but the main point seems to be the person the singer is referring to:" I've always believed if there were one good thing that came out of this it'd be you" and "you're all I see" seem to actually be the focal point of this heavily encoded song.
I agree, this song is heavily encoded and very specific. What I will say though is that the lyrics are insane, and I think that's the point, whatever is being described here is like a transcription of thoughts and feelings, whatever feelings were felt during those "saturday evening possessions".
The point is that through all of this insanity there's a nice little hottie that came out of it. When describing this "you" the lines make sense, as though this "you" is the balance in the insanity. It's also interesting and maybe just a coincidence that the "balance" about this "you" is in the middle of the verses, like an actual balance, maintaining these two sides that are just crazy.
interesting viewpoints. this song is indeed very specific... but I'm pretty sure it's not about a hottie. anyone ever considered that the line "you're all I see" doesn't necessarily have positive connotations? I don't feel this is a love song or anything like that.
