Story Lyrics

Story is a man
He’s not like his father
His Dad’s a working man
He’ll never retire

Why doesn’t Story ever get it together?
You’ve got to have a plan

He’s been waiting such a long, long time
We hope he’s gonna get it together.
Just lookin’ for a peace of mind
We hope it’s gonna work out fine.

He’s never had a love
That ever stayed with him
He never had a friend
To ever forgive him

Why doesn’t Story ever get it together?
Why’s it so hard for you?

He’s been waiting such a long, long time
From here, you know it only gets better.
He only wants a little peace of mind
We hope he’s gonna get it together.

There is a place for you
Far away
And different
The voice is, calling you
Maybe you
Should follow it

He doesn’t get along
With both of his neighbours
He watches every move
Hey watch his behaviour

Why doesn’t story ever get it together?
We know he’s not so bad.

He’s been waiting such a long, long time
We know it’s gonna work out fine
You know he’s gonna get it together.
We hope he doesn’t lose his mind.

It's pretty obvious what it's about, but I'll say it anyway. There's a guy named Story, and they're telling us about his life (in the form of a story), and... yeah, they're singing about his life. He's got a few problems, he's not a working kinda guy, maybe he's got money troubles? I dunno.

The song is about a social misfit, an underachiever or to put it crudely, a depressed loser on the verge of suicide. I quite like the song. There is a video on youtube but I am not sure whether that is the 'official' video or a fan creation. The video does not make any sense.

But the song is quite nice and explores the sadness of a person.
