Because the Night (Patti Smith Group cover) Lyrics

Take me now baby here as I am
hold me close, try and understand
Desire is hunger is the fire I breathe
Love is a banquet on which we feed

Come on now try and understand
The way I feel when I'm in your hands
Take my hand come undercover
They can't hurt you now
Can't hurt you now, can't hurt you now

Because the night belongs to lovers
Because the night belongs to lust
Because the night belongs to lovers
Because the night belongs to us (x2)

Have I doubt baby when I'm alone
Love is a ring, the telephone
Love is an angel disguised as lust
Here in our beds till the morning comes

Come on now try and understand
The way I feel under your command
Take my hand as the sun descends
They can't touch you now
Can't touch you now, can't touch you now

Because the night belongs to lovers
Because the night belongs to lust
Because the night belongs to lovers
Because the night belongs to us (x2)

I see this as being a total Romeo and Juliet based song. They express their love for eachother during night where they are covered under the sheild of darkness and secrecy.

"Take my hand come undercover They can't hurt you now"

That line may go well with Romeo hiding from the Capulets while he got his alone time with Juliet. ;]

When I hear this song Idk how it could be clearer.. and then it gets to this line "The way I feel under your command" it's so homographical is she intending that it means that her emotions are in his command or that is she trying to enlighten him on how she feels about being in his command. I love this part.

Not my sort of thing usually but this isnt a bad version. Although I personally feel it lacks the real emotion from the original, which was written by Bruce Springsteen and Pattie Smith (who each have there own versions)
