Oh, well I knew you shook the set-up baby, of all the leaves up in the ground
And I know our song is over and heavy as I see dry leaves fallin' down, oh
With all this fever in my mind, I could drown in your kerosene eyes
Oh, you're just a riddle in the sky
Oh, where do my bluebirds fly?

And as the early sign of dawn of thunder I see you stir the fog around
And when you find the boys and gears of sunset we'll hear that high and lonesome sound, oh
And I will question every wind if they gone through the glow of your eyes
Oh, you're just a riddle in the sky
Oh, where do my bluebirds fly?
I say where do my bluebirds fly?

Oh, well I know you soak your feathers baby upon the ghosts along my trail
And I know well I was sole and buried before I knew it was for sale, oh
With all this fever in my mind I could aim for your kerosene eyes
Oh, you're just a target in the sky
I say where do my bluebirds fly?
I say where do my bluebirds fly?

i've always thought this song was about a manipulative relationship. "well i know you shook the set up baby, of all the leaves upon the ground" she shook the set up, she put the relationship in motion, she created this atmosphere for him to find happiness in her. "and i know our song is all but healthy as i see dry leaves falling down" obviously, this relationship isn't healthy "with all this fever in my mind, i could drown in your kerosene eyes, you're just a riddle in the sky" she has penetrating, attractive eyes that pull him in, he could drown in them

"I see you stir the fog around" more about her controlling the environment of their relationship "and i will question every wind if they've gone through the glow of your eye" he knows her motives aren't pure and that she's sending him anything she can to trap him, but he still wants to be with her because he does find happiness in her, even if it all was contrived.

"Well I know you stroke your feathers, baby, upon the ghosts along my trail." she's looked into his past, investigated him "And I know your lie was sold and buried before i knew it was for sale" she planned these lies she would tell him, she planned this pure manipulation to place on him before he even knew it was happening or going to happen. "With all these fever in my mind, I should aim for your kerosene eyes, you're just a target in the sky, oh where do my bluebird fly?" he's angry, he knows he should shoot her down, his bluebird, someone he once found such happiness in, although it was all a lie she created.
