Guantanamo Lyrics

heard you sold your friend,
got a good price at the local store,
you know he cold've turned you in,
could have been you on the concrete floor.
Jefferson roll over and tell ol' stalin the news,
They got 'em locked up in castroland
redefining abuse in shades of grey.

torture advocate.
got his dick up in a chickenhawk,
life is what he'll get, war president is a criminal.

still the years they go by,
no charge or trial date,
you're accused of whatever you confess to
if you don't confess you won't see the light of day.

there must be another way.
there must be another way.

the weathervanes are charging down the hill,
in some quixotic calvary
and the war machine is shaking in its sleep
and the homesick ghost of Geronimo,
i fear is taking all the absinthe,
there must be another way.
since Geneva's nearly drowned,
since the tinsmith was gagged and bound,
since the rich boys got away,
two shovels and a skull of the widower brave.

another indefinite detention,
another tradition saved,
all hail the line of the crooked white chiefs,
whose father stole the bones from an indian grave.

there must be another way.
ther must be another way.
there must be another

From the info blurb on PatchMusic: "This was written after reading countless reports about the detention center where many men who posed no threat to the U.S. were apprehended and tortured without a charge or a trial. To make matters worse, some in Congress were trying to put a halt to some of the abuse and then Dick Cheney, with Bush by his side, publicly came out in favor of the torture. The underbelly of the song also talks about Bush's grandfather, Prescott, robbing Geronimo's grave so that new inductees of his Yale secret society could rub the great apache warrior's skull during initiation. Total disrespect for human rights runs in the family."

its about guantanamo bay obviously, and how the patriot act can send accused terrorists to guantanamo bay. If convicted of consiperasy of terrorism, the right to a trial within 24 hours is taken away. Meaning that the people accused of terrorism in there have not appeared in court! Now that means there are people that have been in there for 6 years without seeing a trial. Thanks government, fucking people over again and whatnot. Geranimo was an indian. "another indefinite detention, another tradition saved, all hail the line of the crooked white chiefs, whose father stole the bones from an indian grave" indefinite detention refers to the patriot act stated earlier and how the white man fucking over people has now become a tradition to the United States, and the example of the genocide of Native Americans from back in the day.

The lines: "whose father stole the bones from an Indian grave" and "since the rich boys got away, two shovels and the skull of a widower brave" refer more specifically to the incident where allegedly a couple of Yale students literally stole Geronimo's bones from his grave. Prescott Bush, George H.W. Bush' father, was said to be among these students.
