Buriedfed Lyrics

This is my last song about myself, about my friends
Found something else to sing
Try and patch it up with tape and twine
Maybe I'll just break everything that's mine

They wheeled out my casket,
They said, "Boy, lay down your head"
I said, "Aw shit, man, I ain't even dead"
I won't be buried for I'm...

My friend, who's a real yo-yo
She's always crying, and no one knows why
She's gonna be alright
Lost her past in a fuzzy fire
Wasn't even drunk, just a little tired last night

And they took her to the doctor
To fix her heart, and heal her head
She said, "Goddamn, I'm tired of being polite
Go save somebody else"

Friend of mine drank something fine,
Choked to death before his time, last night
He said, "I found that thing you really need"
Come on, you can't breathe alright

Everyone'll be there at the burial in your head
And a tear or two, they shed
Then they're gonna go digging in your hole
And find someone else instead
Make someone else feel dead instead

Oh, he didn't like people much at all
Tasted better with alcohol
You know how that one goes
He realized he'd missed his whole life
Kissed his dog and shot his wife last night

And they pulled him to a preacher
He said, "Pray 'Our Father' prayers"
He said, "Aw shit, man, I don't even care
Oh, I ain't did nothing"

Reckless ruin is killing high
A great, fine victory we're still alive
My, my, what a surprise
I got home late, I don't care
Better late than never, dear

They took her to the prison
Sat across from him, and sighed
She said, "Fuck you, I wanted just to die
How come you, baby boy, you
You can't do a damn thing right
You can't do any damn thing right"

This is my last song I write inside
Going out, find somewhere else to hide
Late at night on an empty street
Ain't anyone I know walking beside me

I ain't done a damn thing right
But oh, I'll try, before I die
How 'bout tonight

They wheeled out my casket,
They said, "Boy, lay down your head"
I said, "Believe me, I wish that I was dead"
But as long as I've been running
While this world exploded in this big hole in my head

But as long as I've been running
Well, I might just keep it coming
To someone else instead

Oh, you, baby boy, you
You can't do a damn thing right
You can't do any damn thing right

The lyrics, as posted by the band on their MySpace blog:

BURIEDFED

this is my last song about myself / about my friends

find something else to sing

try and patch it up with tape and twine/ babe i just break

everything that’s mine

they wheeled out my casket they said “boy lay down your head .“

i said:“shit man i ain’t even dead…i won’t be buried ‘fore i’m fed.”

well you know your friend who’s a real yo-yo / she’s always crying,

and no one knows why? / she’s gonna be alright

lost her best in a fuzzy fight

she wasn’t even drunk /just a little tight last night.

they took her to a doctor to fix her heart and heal her head she said:

“goddamn, i’m tired of being bled…go save somebody else instead.”

a friend of mine drank something fine/ choked to death

before his time / last night

he said: “find that thing you really need / cough it on down /

‘til you can’t breathe.”

everyone will be there at the burial in your head / and a tear or two they’ll shed

then they’ll go / leave you in your hole/ and find someone else instead

make someone else feel dead instead

he didn’t like people much at all / they tasted better with alcohol

you know / how that one goes

realized he’d missed his whole life / kissed his dog and he shot his wife

last night

pulled him to a priest police said pray your final prayers he said :

“aw shit man i don’t even care…i’m not fit and nothing’s fair.”

well they read a clue in his killin’ eyes / went and found his victim

who was still alive

as she shook the dirt from her rotting hair :

“you boys are late but i don’t care…better late than never dear.”

they took her to the prison she sat across from him and said :

“fuck you i wanted just to die…and how come you / you baby boy you /

you can’t do a damn thing right ? you can’t do anydamnthing right.”

this is my last song about inside / i’m going out / find somewhere else to hide

late at night on an empty street / everyone i know walking beside me

well i ain’t done a damn thing right / but i want one try before i die

tonight

they wheeled out my casket they said: “boy lay down your head.”

i said : “believe me i wish that i was dead!”

but as long as i’ve been running / well this one thing stunning / is this big hole in my head

as long as i’ve been running well i might just be becoming some one else instead

“how come you, you baby boy you.,

you can’t do a damn thing right

you can’t do any damn thing right

Awesome! Reminds me of Krugs' touch in all his bands .. although a bit darker ... " And they took her to the doctor To fix her heart, and heal her head She said, "Goddamn, I'm tired of being polite Go save somebody else" " ... sighs

I love this album.

This is a really good transcription in parts. I can't believe some of the lyrics you've picked out that I couldn't get before, but which seem clear as day now!

There are a couple of bits which I would disagree on though (changes in capitals): 1 "To fix her heart, and heal her head She said, "Goddamn, I'm tired of being BLED""

2 "And they pulled him to a preacher POLICE said, "Pray YOUR FINAL prayers""

3 "Late at night on an empty street EVERYONE I know walking beside OF me"

4 "But as long as I've been running Well, I might just BE BECOMING Someone else instead"

Anyone got any ideas on the meaning of this song?

I'm not 100% sure, but it sounds to me like a story from someone on death row who's about to be executed and is about to have his last meal, but they're measuring him up for a coffin beforehand.

It seems like he's shot his wife and been sentenced to death, and is telling a story about how it all happened.

Any thoughts or different interpretations?

This song... I can't even explain. I am stunned that so few people are aware of this guy, he is so talented. I've heard he's unreliable and well, drunk, live so maybe that has something to do with it. But, still.

My Opinion

I just saw him live last week in Toronto, and though he was a little drunk on stage it didn't hurt his playing. I also had the good fortune of talking with him after wards, and he is one of the most down to earth guys I have ever met, he was just surprised people came to his show.

It's

I said "Aw shit man, I ain't even dead I won't be buried before I'M FED"

Hence the title of the song. It just overlaps a bit with the next line so it's hard to hear. Also I think it's

She said "Goddamn, I'm tired of being polite Go save somebody ELSE'S LIFE"

and it overlaps with the next line a little too
