Embracing Accusation Lyrics

The father of lies
Is coming to steal, kill and destroy
All my hopes of being good enough
I hear him say,
"Cursed are the ones who can't abide,"
He's right, hallelujah, he's right

The devil is preaching the song of the redeemed
That I am cursed and gone astray
I cannot gain salvation
Embracing accusation

Could the father of lies be telling the truth
Of God to me tonight?
If the penalty of sin is death
Then death is mine
I hear him say,
"Cursed are the ones who can't abide,"
He's right, hallelujah, he's right

The devil is preaching the song of the redeemd
That I am cursed and gone astray
I cannot gain salvation

The devil's singing over me an age old song
That I am cursed and gone astray
Singing the first verse so conveniently over me
He's forgotten the refrain:
Jesus saves

Cover art for Embracing Accusation lyrics by Shane & Shane

i first heard this song the other day and had to go to itunes almost immediately and buy it. it proclaims a message that we cannot hear enough: that we are wretched sinners that can do nothing about our present state, but Salvation can give us a new identity in Christ. once we have that Salvation, reminders of our mistakes are just reminders that those mistakes don't matter anymore. i've struggled with the guilt of my past before, but this song is a message that can turn that guilt into praise and joy.
