Midwest Lyrics
Can't catch a break with a noose
Peacock to pigeon, I felt that change
Pressed my face to the stone
Once strong legs gone lame
I borrow too often and I hate work
Good heart, but what's it worth?
Clay pots to mud
Wallclock stops, but the sundial stays
As my life sails down the toilet,
I wish you were here to enjoy it
I've let myself go in so many ways
[missing stanza in the inlay]
Can't catch a break with a brick
Pearl to swine, I felt that change
Pressed my face to the road
What was heart, now brain
Trains derailed, but the wheels still spin
Trains derailed, but the wheels still spin
As my life sails down the toilet,
I wish you were here to enjoy it
I've let myself go in so many ways
Peacock to pigeon, I felt that change
Pressed my face to the stone
Once strong legs gone lame
Good heart, but what's it worth?
Clay pots to mud
Wallclock stops, but the sundial stays
I wish you were here to enjoy it
I've let myself go in so many ways
Pearl to swine, I felt that change
Pressed my face to the road
What was heart, now brain
Trains derailed, but the wheels still spin
I wish you were here to enjoy it
I've let myself go in so many ways

Great song, and great band
it's pretty obviously about his struggle to stay afloat in life, but his consistent failure which doesn't break his sprit
we've all been disappointed with ourselves and been told by people that we can't succeed "i wish you were to enjoy it"
he become a failure, and hasn't amounted to anything just like people told him, but that dosen't mean he is going to give up
