i love how shaant always refers to the left side being strong.

in I Dont Care If Its The Moon its "you see my left side as my strong side and its pumping the song of a long night."

and in Teasing To Please its "if you pick my left side because you know how we do"

and in this song its "i've always thought the left was your strongest side"

hes refering to the heart, obviously.

I typed these out myself, and I've come to some conclusions.

First let me say that I could very well be 100% wrong but I will type up the song how IT IS TO ME. I believe it to be a very sad song about a couples inevitable breakup and that no matter how badly he wants to keep her, he just can't.

The roads are wrapped around your waist They lead me place to place I take trips from hip to hip In fact I’ve made a career out of it (not sure about this part but roads on waists and trips on hips sounds like a reference to sex but also a reference to him constantly traveling while on tour. Possibly him cheating on her while on tour) I’ve always thought the left was your strongest side (he always thought she let her heart lead her) But when it comes to you, now I can’t decide (maybe she is no longer listening to her heart) It’s only a matter of time (she will break up with him and use her brains to get over him rather than follow her heart)

I need the product of your fears In the form of tears (he wants to see that she still cares about him) It’s the only way I can survive It breaks my heart to see you crying, baby (he hates to see her cry but needs it to feel secure about their relationship because he still feels emotions towards her) It’s the only way I stay alive Green eyes, blue skies (green= grounded. she is grounded and realistic in contrast to just letting go and flying away with the blue skies) Natural disasters when she cries (when she cries it brings out so many emotions in both of them and everything gets turned upside down) Green eyes, they’re mine It’s only a matter of time (she is currently his but only for a short time)

Like the climate, You never know what weather you get (she is fickle with him and sometimes acts like she cares) No denying, You’re the habit that I can’t quit (he can't deny that he needs her) It’s only a matter of mine (only so long before she will get over and leave him)

Rotating, I’m shaking (he realizes he has lost her) I hope you turn around in time (he wants to bring her back in time to a point when she cared and stop her from thinking about things realistically) Tides changing, I’m waiting (things between them have changed) You and I are one of a kind (him convincing her to come back to him as he waits for her) (You’re changing) I’ve been both of our fears over my short years (he has become someone he hates as a bf. this goes back to my earlier theory about cheating while on the road) I still can’t pick my favorite place (Don't make me) The contour on your lips, they match your continents And I still love the way that you taste (he loves everything about her and can't even chose which part he loves best)

I like the frogs, actually. I think it makes it sound like a summer night by a lake or something. I think it's just for effect, no significance.

I really like ohemgasmic's interpretation, and to be honest that's how I think of the song as well.

Really sweet song, and the buildup of the music is great too. Soft in the beginning, then louder as they get to the last word.

I think when he says he's been to both hemispheres of the world, it's a metaphor for her body. So like this may sound a little weird, but like the top and bottom half of her body. The top would be like her mouth: they can talk, be in love, kiss, hold each other, etc. The bottom would just be sex. So he can't decide if he is with her for the lust or love. I hope that makes sense.

One thing I've always liked about this song is the first part of the first verse:

"The roads are wrapped around your waist They lead me place to place I take trips from hip to hip In fact I've made a career out of it"

The way I always interpreted this is like... The roads are wrapped around her waist, basically meaning that his world revolves around her; anywhere he goes, she's at its core. He's made a career out of this by writing about her in sex songs and love songs.

Also... I love how the chorus contradicts itself... He needs her to cry, but it breaks his heart to see it.

I think this song might be reffering to the world at times.

There are two ways I interpret this song:

First: It's about having a relationship while being on tour and cheating on her because he thinks he doesn’t love her, and realizes he does when she tries to leave.

Second - the better one: It's uber metaphorical.

The ‘roads’ of his life revolve around important girls he’s been with. He bases his decisions on what they want/need. He’s been with multiple girls. He uses touring to get laid? Idk…

“I’ve always thought the left was your strongest side But when it comes to you, now I can’t decide It’s only a matter of time.”

Your heart is on your left. He always thought he followed his heart. He meets a girl that he thinks he doesn’t particularly love, but is really attracted to. Their relationship is doomed.

“I need the product of your fears In the form of tears It’s the only way I can survive It breaks my heart to see you crying, baby It’s the only way I'll stay alive.”

He realizes he loves her? And needs her to give him signs that she loves him back? He feels like he needs her… and seeing her hurt because of him (like… he threatens to leave and she starts crying or something) lets him know that she cares?

Her eyes are green? They spent a lot of time in beautiful, clear-skied days? … Or one specific memory of them spending time in blue skies. She has green eyes, and she is his. He still feels like their relationship is doomed?

Climates are different, therefore different weather comes from them. She’s unpredictable, and he likes it. He admits, no matter how reluctantly, that he needs her. It’s his problem to deal with, and he wants to deal with it alone.

Things are getting rocky and she’s leaving him. He hopes she comes back.

Things are becoming different between them, like it’s no longer a cycle or specific agenda. He’s reminding her that he’s there for her and that they have something special, but she’s still pulling away?

“I’ve been both hemispheres over my short years I still can’t pick my favorite place (Don't make me)”

He’s been in relationships where he’s been there just for the physical side and he’s had this relationship where he actually loves her. He doesn’t know which side he likes better.

She’s just like any other girl he’s had, but different? … Because he actually loves her AND her body?
