The Lock Down Denial Lyrics

Slightly bruised and a little bit used
I never thought they'd be so amused
Brothers bond broken by the bailiff
For the first time

Prison proves I gotta pay my dues
Now I know I'll never be with you

If I, if I, if I die inside
Would anyone realize?
(No; God help me)
If I, if I, if I die inside
Would anyone realize?
(No)
I lived a lie
(Is anyone gonna realize?)

Change in sights
I ain't gonna sleep tonight
This is no way for a man to live his life
Paranoid on the prison yard pavement
For the first time

So I served time for my addiction
I pay the price for my affliction
A judge took my life with his conviction
For the last time

Lights out, lockdown
Don't make a sound
Lights out, lockdown

If I, if I, if I die inside
Would anyone realize?
(Would anyone realize?)
If I, if I deny that crime
Would I, would I serve the time?
I live a lie

Someone's beating
On the drumset in my head
Something, a different beat
Beat myself to the sound
Of the walking dead
Rinse and repeat
Someone's beating
On the drumset in my head
In my head, head

If I, if I, if I die, yeah

If I, if I, if I die inside
Would anyone realize?
(Would anyone realize?)
If I, if I deny the crime
Would I, would I serve the time?
I live a lie

I think it's a big song about if you "get away" with something - say, stealing something from a store, do you really get away with it? Not only a crime, but something you simply shouldn't do for moral's sake, like breaking someone's heart or having a one-night stand. Even though you "get away" with it, like, no one finds out you stole the item or the one-night stand it forgotten, you didn't really, because YOU will always remember. You try to deny it to yourself, but really, you're "locked down" by your own guilty conscience. As for the addiction part, addiction is a very broad word. "Addiction" could be to a substance, sure, but it could also being an addiction to an emotion or feeling, like sexual satisfaction. Some people even get addicted to the high they get from stealing something. He could feel trapped by his own addictions, and thus though he may "pay the price for my affliction", he can't escape it in his own mind. And again, the prison doesn't have to be an ACTUAL prison. People say "I'm a prisoner in my own house" and stuff like that, and I think that's the kind of prison he's talking about.

Great song, this entire album has amazing written all over it. Very compelling lyrics. i feel Its about someone with an addiction, whose problem landed them in the pen. They're not the criminal type yet their record will now speak otherwise. just an idea. Love this song and, well, all the others as well.

I just wanted to fix some of the lyrics. I have the cd so I'm positive these are correct.

Prison proves I gotta pay my dues Now I know I'll never be with you

this is what is says. it should say.

Prison proves I gotta pay my dues Now I know I'll never be refused.

Not a big difference. I just thought people would like to know.
