Miss Sobriety Lyrics
hey, miss sobriety
do you remember me
or how to say my name
do you remember when we were friends
yeah, all the way back then
you caused the confidence
but you never taught it how to stay
and if i learned one thing
it's that you always have a price to pay
i've heard one man's trash
is another man's treasure
hey, miss sobriety
do you remember me
dr how to say my name
do you remember when we were friends
yeah, all the way back then
hey, hey, hey, miss confidence
do you remember when you kept me safe
are my eyes deceiving
are you believing
or have i made you lose your faith
one man's pain
(said one man's pain)
is another man's pleasure
(is another man's pleasure)
hey, miss sobriety
do you remember me
or how to say my name
do you remember when we were friends
yeah, all the way back then
one man's trash is another man's treasure
(don't you wonder why i even left her)
one man's pain is another man's pleasure
i never thought i'd get so low
never thought that i could get so low
this is as far as i will go
i never thought i'd get so low
when i stopped digging
it's the bottom, i know
i never thought i'd get so low
direct me which way i should go
one man's trash is another man's treasure
hey, miss sobriety
do you remember me
or how to say my name
do you remember when we were friends
yeah, all the way back then
one man's trash is another man's treasure
(don't you wonder why i even left her)
one man's pain is another man's pleasure
(if i could find a way to do this over)
one man's trash is another man's treasure
(i should have known that she could be my savior)
one man's pain is another man's pleasure
never thought i'd get so low
i never thought i'd get so low
never thought that i could get so low
i never thought i'd get so low

it seems more likely to me that the song is about a girlfriend who was actually the one with the drinking problem. And calling her "Miss Sobriety" may be sarcasm. He asks if she remembers how to say his name. He also says,
"one man's trash is another man's treasure (don't you wonder why i even loved her)"
which might be talking about how to others she was looked at as trash. and people wondered why he was with her. then the "i never thought that i could get so low" might be him realizing that he's settling for a girl who drinks too much and isn't worth his time. he thinks he can do alot better than her.
or it may be about a girl he took advantage of who was drunk, and feeling regret about what he did. that may be another possibility.
it's about how he used to not drink. how he remembers staying sober and if sobriety remembers him (now that he's drinking again) since it's been awhile, etc...
this song is about Shaant being an alcoholic, & how he realized that being sober is way better. i read it in AP.
right, im basically just gonna type exactly what it says in kerrang...it doesnt make much sense to me cos it conflicts with a lot of things he's said. amazing song, though.
ALCOHOLISM
"This is something that I confronted on a song called Miss Sobriety. It opens with the lines 'Hey Miss Sobriety, do you remember me? Do you remember when we were friends?'. Having not drank at all in high school I pretty much dove in head first, and I've been drinking ever since. It's a dangerous game sometimes. You can feel pretty low, and you have to be really careful when trying to find your limit because drinking can be a very easy path to take. It's something I've managed to control, but I had to learn a few lessons along the way."
I can understand exactly what he's saying. And then I remember other things that he's said. And then I recall the way he acts when out gigging at smaller venues.

And it makes no sense.
And it makes no sense.
IDK, if you take out his stories of having been sober since 2003 (which given that we graduated the same year, would make him in high school) and/or whatever other dates, the song makes perfect sense. As does his statement. Just not in the context of what he's said in the past.

One man's trash is another man's treasure Don't you wonder why I even LOVED her? One man's pain is another man's pleasure
^^ those are the right lyrics
im probably way off but it seems like the songs talking about this guys best friend from when they were younger (you know how when your young you claim you wont smoke ,drink or have sex ever) and as they grew up they grew apart she into the party scene and him in to the regular student life. And gradually over the years he falls in love with her even though she has a reputation and all that jazz.and he feels like an idiot cause hes still in love with her even though shes changed so much and dosent care about him.
i know it dosent have anything to do with the band it self but the situation just appeard in my head once i heard the song
great song makes me happy when i hear it ironically enough
