Q&A

I Wish I Were Lyrics

I can hardly move
And I sure can grow
Can hardly see why
I am so afraid

And the days are long
And I, I cant get rid of whats wrong
Its plain to see
That the problem isnt
Isnt in me

I wish
I were a sailor dancing
Dancing for your love

Am I somewhere in the middle?
Do I count as being special?
Is there a sincerity in anything that I say?
Do I know what anything means?
Can I, can I see all?

I listen to the radio
Not music but the talk shows
I watch a lot of PBS and BBC
And I want to meet the Press

Im scared
Im scared
Im scared of what I see
The only thing I recognize
Is the pain in my side
The hunger that I feel
Is the only thing
The only thing that is real

I wish
I were a sailor
Dancer, dancing for your love
Do, do, ah
Oh-ah, lo, lo, lo, ah, ah
Do, lo, lo, lo
Ah, la

Cover art for I Wish I Were lyrics by Martha Wainwright

the lyrics are wrong here. corrections in capital letters And I sure CANT GROOVE

That the problem IS IS in me

I wish I were a SINGER A DANCER

Can I, OH CAN I SEE

I DONT want to meet the Press

and again the chorus, singer and dancer not sailor.

i love this song. musically it is extremely minimalist and simple, also the lyrics. but she has a voice that will go directly to your soul. it breaks my heart every time i hear it. i always wonder what she feels she has accomplished, if she can aknowledge that she is an amazing artist, because in this song she says "i wish i was a singer...".
