Great song! Assuming its about an former partner of hers who cheated her out of something (maybe money?).
The last line in the next to last stanza is not " To see the whole ending unfold"; I think it's " to see the whole damn thing unfold".
I read in an interview with Martha (which I'm trying to find again!!) that this song is about cheating yourself with drugs and alcohol etc, watch the music video too. =)
