I think this song is about a guy, whose best/good friend is a girl that he has a crush on. But she's hung up on another guy, who's like super cool (thus, "rockstar"); and the guy is trying to tell his friend not to waste her time because the "rockstar" is over/not into her. But she just won't realize that, so she keeps on trying to win the "rockstar's" affections, much to the guys dismay and frustration.
this song is so catchy, i love it.
i think this song is about a girl who is trying to get him to like her. he's saying, you're wasting your time, you're trying to hard, give it up. "give up your dreams and say goodbye"

I think its about girls that sit infront of a television watching their fav bands on t.v and fall in love with a band member and decide their going to stalk them at shows, thinking they will meet their interest and that he will fall in love with them and all. this song is ubberr awesome. i think the "rockstar" isnt necessarily an actual rockstar. i think its someone everyone admires. so this girl likes the rockstar dude so much she would do anything to get him and she ignores the narrator of the song when he really wants her.
i would just like to think this song is for all those 12-16 year old girls who go to shows, stand in the front row and drool over the 24 year old guys they will never be with...
