Thank You Too! Lyrics

Really didn't think I was gonna make it.
Really didn't think I was gonna make it this way.
Put on my robot face. Hide my emotions way far away from me.

Oh! You really saw my naked heart.
You really brought out the naked part.
I don't know what you were doing-
I know I just want to thank you for thinking of me.

I want to take you. For all that you are.
Although our worlds seem far apart
I want to see you- thru all that you do.
I want to thank you.

It was strange and it was soothing, and you could even say amusing-
The way it came to me.
You'd devised a simple plan, that would change the fate of man,
you'd thought of everything

Oh! you really saw my naked heart.
You really brought out the naked part.
I don't know what you were doing-
I know I just want to thank you for thinking of me

I want to take you. For all that you are.
Although our worlds seem far apart.
I want to see you- thru all that you do
I want to thank you.

I want to Thank Jim for being amazing. I just saw them live for the first time recently and it was the best concert I've ever seen. I cried!

This song is obviously about the artist's relationship with God. He is thanking God for finding him. The artist displays how he is uncertain why or how he found him, but he wants to think him for making his heart pure. Even though he might be guilty of sin, God still saw his naked heart.

This part is obviously about the speaker who had been squeaking through life, having no love in his life, put aside his emotions and is telling a woman about his tale. Then he goes into explaining how this woman who is now in his life saw through his "robot face" and was able to bring about the return of his real self. The speaker had no idea what the woman was doing in, I assume conversing and building a relationship with him, but wants to thank her for saving him. The speaker wants to see and take in everything that the woman is. As for the worlds apart line, I take that to mean that perhaps they are two very different people. ++++++++++

I think this part he is directing towards God. After realizing that God has found him and vice versa, the speaker begins to thank God, for in the greater scheme of things, took time and consideration to bring the person into the speakers life. That would explain "I don't know what you were doing- I know I just want to thank you for thinking of me."

All in all, this has to be one of the most beautiful songs I've heard so far in my life, all 21 years of it. Evil Urges has introduced me to one of the greatest bands, and I will gladly make my way backwards through their past albums to find more treasures.

I saw God in the girl this song makes me think of.

While it has been close enough to a decade since the last comment on this song was made, I feel I would be remiss not to note the potential (or from my perspective, obvious) parallel between this song and Led Zeppelin's "Thank You."

The thought is best understood by just listening to both, so I won't attempt to draw on many parallels aside from the titles — "Thank You" and "Thank You Too" (a possible play on "Thank You II").

What I do know, as both a great Zeppelin and MMJ fan, the moment Evil Urges came out and I worked my way down to "Thank You Too!" I felt a massive clicking into place. Knowing the original "Thank You" so intimately, when I saw the MMJ title and listened, "Thank You Too!" just seemed from my perspective so simply, obviously, and perfectly connected. I also felt and still feel that MMJ, especially in earlier work (At Dawn, Chocolate and Ice, It Still Moves, Z, etc.), has so much of Zeppelin in them, filtered and moulded through their own brilliant and "of the the time" artistry.

Perhaps it's just a personal projection onto two incredible songs with which I have unique connections. Maybe it's just my "see everything", puzzle mapping, idea overloaded brain. But at the very least, I dare you to give them both a good listen and try NOT to feel the brilliant connection yourself.

i love this song

I agree with the people before me. While it could certainly be taken in a religious manner, I think it could also be about a certain girl who reached out to him and helped him through a tough time. Saw them about a month ago, this song is great live.

What a beautiful love song, regardless of who the subject is! Such a vulnerable and intimate love. There's one line in this song that makes me think it's about God and not a girl, though: "You'd devised a simple plan/That would change the fate of man/You'd thought of everything". "Look At You" from this album has some religious context, too, and there are quite a few of Jim's songs that refer to God, either directly or slyly. Either way, this is a beautiful love song.

Just an additional note about the song's religious undertones, I like how he says, "Really didn't think I's gonna make it this way." He never thought he was going to be one to make it through life as a Christian. The "Although our worlds seem far apart," line is about his life as a "rock star" being so different from what is thought of as the Christian lifestyle.
