Like a lot of the other comments are saying, I think this mainly about voyeurism. If the song was about his girlfriend, then why would he use the word spy. If you are a spy it means you shouldn't be caught, that is kind of the whole point, and if you are a voyeur, the whole point of the pleasure you get from it, is the fact that the other people don't know you are watching them. See a bit of a connection there?

this song touches me so much....bout 3 yrs ago I was dating a guy who shared 2 Christmases w/ me an dthen last year we broke up so Christmas was a lil awkward yes....but I actually had a good time barely even thought bout him I went outside to warm the car up to leave for me family and when I turned on the radio I heard this song and I have never heard it b4! Ya I broke down in tears but fell in love with it! It touched base with me so amzingly well it shocked me! It was exactly me and me ex adn i had been wanting to write a song or somethin to kinda remind me and this song was perfect. Yeah...i have the same experience.....he moved to abroad last summer but he always wanted me to stay faithful to him...but after 3 months he said he 's over it....i still can't stand the whole thing....i still yearn for him...but he ignores me ...This year is my first Christmas without him...i know he won't care 'bout me....but i do love him till the end :(
