Time Lyrics
Time
needs another minute
at least
Take your time
But you've got a limit
That girl looks forward
to another meetin'
He, just like everyday people I know
looks forward to another simple greetin'
A bear
A bear in the woods looks
forward to hibernatin'
Just any ol' player, you know
All he needs is a ratin'
Time is education
even when they tell you
it's sophistication
You know that time
needs to be a little longer
Oh, time!
The universe needs to be a little stronger
Time, they say, is the answer
but I don't believe 'em
Time
needs another minute
at least
Take your time
But you've got a limit
to another meetin'
He, just like everyday people I know
looks forward to another simple greetin'
A bear in the woods looks
forward to hibernatin'
Just any ol' player, you know
All he needs is a ratin'
even when they tell you
it's sophistication
needs to be a little longer
Oh, time!
The universe needs to be a little stronger
but I don't believe 'em

Spacey.
It seems to me that Sly Stone had an obsession with time in the early '70s. So many of his songs mention it. I don't think the verses are really about anything, but the general vibe of the song is a frustration with the way things are panning out as time inevitably marches on, in a depressing way. The wah-wah'ed organ at the start, the full-of-dread thick sound that comes in towards the end and general vibe of the song suits this depressing premise perfectly.
what happened here? the lyrics i submitted a few years ago were for the song "time", from "there's a riot goin' on". now i see they've been changed to the lyrics for "in time", from the album "fresh", and the formatting is all messed up. what gives?
Time is education Even when they tell you its sophistication
Spoken like a true philosopher Sly was a bad man. He wasn't playing.
