obviusly the songs about his beliefs(god), hes desperate so he begs for help from above
It's about his struggles with believing that God is real. I know where he's been. It's like life is so bad sometimes you wonder if He's even there... We beg for signs, some kind of reconciliation. Warmth in our hearts. So we know. So we never forget that He is always with us.
I love the ending to this song. The last lines are all about redemption. "Cover your eyes, forget what you see, go west young man, let the evil go east." A clear cut tie to the verse in the bible that says "He casts our sins as far as the east is to the west."
I totally agree, the ending is amazing, it really touches you and when he says "this time I'm sure, I know that your listening" i almost start crying!!!! It almost sounds like he's talking about a death of a friend and he's trying to reach him/her...I love this song:D

This song is pretty easy to interpret. He struggles with beliefs at the beginning.. but

he followed his heart, kept believing, not being influenced, and whoila! he found God. Yes, I could totally relate to this song.
