Holy Shit Lyrics
holy shit
what a relief
i pulled myself apart - couldn't breathe - tore my hair - bit my skin
i thought of all the dark - all the ash - all the blood - all the grief
i told myself look up - told myself look up and believe
and now this peace - like a blanket - enveloping me.
and holy shit
what a relief
the worst has come
and turned to leave
and holy shit
what a relief!
all that weight falling from me
and all that breath finally free
what a relief
i thought of all the dark - all the ash - all the blood - all the grief
i told myself look up - told myself look up and believe
and now this peace - like a blanket - enveloping me.
what a relief
the worst has come
and turned to leave
and holy shit
what a relief!
all that weight falling from me
and all that breath finally free

When I seen them last summer they introduced the song as how they felt when they drove home through newfoundland after a tour.
After nine months away it'll be the very first song I play when i get in my car at the airport and hit the TCH.
Tim says that this song is about a plane crash, where everyone dies, but they get to heaven and think, Oh, this isn't so bad, its much less stressful than being alive. A beautiful notion.

i don't care what the experience is-- if it's a drive through a place, a plane crash where everyone dies -- i'll take it, if it's like this.

Might have been written about it, didn't say it wasn't? Sounds like you and Timmy had a much more in-depth conversation about it now doesn't it?

This song was written because of the time the singer fell down a staircase. He broke his rib and thought he was going to die because nobody would be around for hours. He thought that because of the amount of pain and suffering one goes through before detah, that dying would be a relief. The ending melody is what he thinks they dance to in heaven.
