My mother, God rest her soul, was the soloist for the Ford Motor Company choir back in the late 50's, early 60's and could bring a grown man to tears with her beautiful voice. Her choice of music at home wasn't Peggy Lee, Della Reese, or Patsy Cline. It was Elvis. I was 5 years old when Elvis cut this song (1956), and knew every word by 6. Figuratively speaking, she played this LP until the vinyl grooves wore out.

I want this song to be played at my wedding... if I ever have one. cuz then the "I thought I could live without romance until you came to me" line would be so true. I love the simplicity of this. no fancy words. just the bare truth of their love.
