I'm pretty sure that this song is about a couple who like eachother, but are having problems and the relationship wont work out. The girl seems to be getting over him a little bit faster than him, though. Even though it never works out, he believes that they can keep trying and maybe someday it will.

This song is like my current relationship to par. There's a huge age difference between me and my boyfriend which has almost broken us up multiple times. But yeah, all these little lines remind me so much of us.
