So the lyrics posted here seem incorrect for the most part :. The middle is very unclear(others have any ideas?), but i believe the end is mostly correct.

Also, i believe by "visiting friends" he is speaking of a relationship in which the lover comes and goes...Visiting friends as in a friend who only visits, never staying to establish anything worthwhile. Just an idea, rereading the partial lyrics with that in mind really helped me at least feel like i understand the song/meaning, but to each his own :)

This reminds me of being a jolly sort of cold with friends in a house. That moment when you look out the window after a sip of beer to the snow outside. A moment of recognition of the snow as background and you are there with friends.
