Mz. Popularity Lyrics

Can you come out and play with me?
If you want we can climb a tree
Then maybe we'll watch TV
And I will be what you need

Here I am
With your gun in my hands
And I know what to do
Let me give you a hand
And you'll feel how I can make you a man
What a terrible mess

And I wonder if you found my note
If you were able to break the code
It said, "Do you like me? Check yes or no."
Please don't let anyone know

Here I am
With your life in my hands
And I know what to do
Let me give you a hand
And you'll feel how I can make you a man
What a terrible mess

And now the boys are calling me
When yesterday they wouldn't talk to me
Last night changed everything
And now I'm Miss Popularity

Here I am
With your soul in my hands
And I know what to do
Let me give you a hand
And you'll feel how I can make you a man
What a terrible mess
What a terrible mess
What a terrible mess

Cover art for Mz. Popularity lyrics by Moxy

The perspective in the song "Mz. Popularity" is pro-sex feminist, and its sexual undertones are borderline sadistic, aside from the obvious murder scenario. "Gun" is a slang synonym of the word "penis"--hence this famous rhyme: "This is my rifle; this is my gun; this one's for fighting; this one's for fun." "Mz. Popularity" probably refers implicitly to that rhyme via a pun of the word "gun", and if it does, its content demonstrates extreme sex-related militancy. That song deals with the effect vulgar sex-related words can have on kids and with the power people are percieved to have as a result of willingness to give sexual favors and their possession of firearms. The person whose perspective the song is from seems to think that boys can become men via their own deaths, figuratively or literally.
