I feel this is about the narrator liking someone but knowing it cant work but still never learning. The boy comes back and it fails again yet they keep trying again.
Just a guess..
This is my favourite of their songs, beautiful. And I agree with the comment above about the interpretation. I can't believe their lyrics are on here, it's awesome...they are great and I know one of them :)
