More Than Meets the Eye Lyrics
Life in the world untold, question the unknown
This prison captures me, my cell is all I know
I thought I knew it all, stubborn in my ways
My sentence has begun, my future's what I waste
Next chapter of my life is filled with violent scenes
I stay awake at night hiding from my dreams
The voices haunting me, driving me insane
Can't seem to get away, they're calling out my name
I feel that I am slipping
Are they out to get me
My life is upside down
More than meets the eye
For now I am in control, choosing my own fate
And now I sleep at night because I'm not afraid
My demons haunting me, I chased them all away
I've conquered all my fears, my destiny awaits
I'm no longer slipping
I'm not slipping away
No one's out to get me
no one will get in my way
No longer upside down
I've turned my life around
More than meets the eye
More than
More than meets the eye
This prison captures me, my cell is all I know
I thought I knew it all, stubborn in my ways
My sentence has begun, my future's what I waste
I stay awake at night hiding from my dreams
The voices haunting me, driving me insane
Can't seem to get away, they're calling out my name
I feel that I am slipping
Are they out to get me
My life is upside down
More than meets the eye
And now I sleep at night because I'm not afraid
My demons haunting me, I chased them all away
I've conquered all my fears, my destiny awaits
I'm no longer slipping
I'm not slipping away
No one's out to get me
no one will get in my way
No longer upside down
I've turned my life around
More than meets the eye
More than meets the eye

This song can also be understood straight-forward:
In the first part, the person is stubborn, doesn't want to know or see anything for some reason. He just wants to remain narrow-minded, and won't ever change. This may be compared to early teenage life.
In his "next chapter of life", he fights everyone, calls them voices he doesn't want to hear. His dreams may mean that he somehow is intrigued by those "voices", but forces himself to remain on his own path. But later understands that it may not be his true path, so it calls it "upside down". Could mean somewhere in the middle of the mentioned teen age.
The last part is where the person is mature, he decides to "turn his life around": no longer fights those ideals. but joins them. "The demons" are probably the same thing as those "voices", but instead of being haunted, he chases them.
This whole song can be compared to almost every metalhead's life. Most of us (talking mostly about the new generation, including myself) started listening to it in the teen age. Our parents forced us to stereotype Metal, and so we did, until we started listening to it, understanding it. Now we are chasing the demons because they're something difficult to understand, etc, also learning what it true music. Thank you, Metal! \m/

the solo kinda makes you feel two mentalities behind it.
It's a song about a schizophrenic who can't escape the cell and prison of his sickness. The demons of his mind (hallucinations) chase him, and the voices don't stop talking, driving him insane. He treats schizophrenia as a punishment for his unworthy life. "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger" - now he taught himself to control all of this, and he found a way to channel his energies into strength and invincibility. The "more than meets the eye" clip contains plenty of shadow-bats: a common hallucination amongst schizophrenics...the title of the song means that "there are more things in heaven and on earth than our philosophers have dreamt of" - that is - we can't see everything that exists out there...but some can...generally a song about mental illness and recovery into super-man of some sort. Maybe - maybe not.
Before I heard this song I was thinking...Transformers?
