Demon Seed Lyrics
DEMON SEED
1
it keeps growing
and i can feel it breathe
i have been trying
to behave myself
it keeps growing
and i can feel it breathe
i have been trying
to tolerate you
2
well i am reaching the point
yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah
3
i thought maybe
i thought this would go away
but it continues
the only constant
every day
stronger
4
i will use my voice
and i will use my fist
to destroy
everything i can
5
now i know
what this is all about
now i know
exactly what i am
6
these is a seed
inside of me
that makes me
it keeps growing
and i can feel it breathe
i have been trying
to behave myself
it keeps growing
and i can feel it breathe
i have been trying
to tolerate you
well i am reaching the point
yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah
i thought maybe
i thought this would go away
but it continues
the only constant
every day
stronger
i will use my voice
and i will use my fist
to destroy
everything i can
now i know
what this is all about
now i know
exactly what i am
these is a seed
inside of me
that makes me

Ruiner, I know it's your interpretation, but I think you're far off.
"it keeps growing and i can feel it breathe i have been trying to behave myself"
This thing inside of him is growing and he's aware of it's presence.
"it keeps growing and i can feel it breathe i have been trying to tolerate you"
Pretty self explanatory. He's trying his hardest to remain neutral.
"well i am reaching the point yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah"
Everyone has that point at which they just snap, and he's inching closer and closer to that point.
"i will use my voice and i will use my fist to destroy everything i can"
He's right at that boiling point and he's choosing a side.
"now i know what this is all about now i know exactly what i am"
He finally understands what is going on and his role in it
"these is a seed inside of me that makes me"
He's accepting it.
Literal translation, but that's what I get.
It clearly has a lot to do with not being able to deal, cope -- whatever you wanna say -- with the stitution and people at hand. I know I can relate to this song. :: serious nod. ::
i think it refers to the devil inside each of us, or the duality of man.
"3 i thought maybe i thought this would go away but it continues the only constant every day stronger"
I don't hear this part anywhere in the song... ?? is it just me?
I think it makes most sense if you interpret the previous three songs in conjunction with this.
I know, a tetralogy seems outlandish, but hear me out here.
So it begins with Lights in the Sky, which can easily be interpreted to be about sacrificing your own love to stay with a significant other who has lost feelings for you. I'm not going to go deep into this, because it's not the songs page. Moving on.
Based on that, Corona Radiata can be interpreted as the feeling of pretending to consign yourself and be okay with the fact that you love someone who doesn't love you back. It haunts you. Seriously, its something I've been through. It's always in the back of your mind, you dwell on it.
Following that, The Four of us are Dying has a sound that indicates (to me at least) self loathing. Sort of wrestling with yourself about going back on your own word. The narrator can't handle the relationship any more. He keeps pushing down his reservations though. They manifest in Demon Seed...
In Demon Seed, he has hit the breaking point. He can't handle his own self loathing or his resentment of his "Love". This starts to bleed out in a destructive manner. Whether physical abuse, self harm, or just straight up homo/suicide, is open for interpretation. But something very destructive has come of this and he just doesn't care about the consequences anymore.
To me, The Slip is almost an alternative take on The Downward Spiral. This time it's being less about drugs, and more about mental illness, I.e. bipolar disorder and depression
In The Great Destroyer the person is talking about how he hopes no one realizes his "limitless potential". I felt like that song was saying that the real destroyers of everything was humans, which basically is true.
I kind of wonder if The Slip is about one of those good guys that tries to deal things peacefully during Year Zero, but in the end realizes the only thing he can do is resort to violence to solve problems. Otherwise he is going to get killed, because art really solves nothing.
well im thinking hes talking about that Zeit Geist shit, or whatever, something about how we are all going to have to use little ID chips under our skin
"it keeps growing and i can feel it breathe i have been trying to behave myself"
Its taking over him, and behaving himself is the only way to stay in check with the law/government cause apparently if your ID tag doesn't work or you do something THEY don't want you to, they can cut it off, and when you are ID'd and nothing comes up you can be tried as a terrorist or just killed.
"it keeps growing and i can feel it breathe i have been trying to tolerate you" hes been trying to stay in line
"well i am reaching the point" hes almost going to snap(obviously)
"i thought maybe i thought this would go away but it continues the only constant every day stronger"
he feels that he 'could' get used to it but its just getting harder and harder everyday (and i think this is where "Everyday Is Exactly The Same" comes into play)
"i will use my voice and i will use my fist to destroy everything i can" he feels that he HAS to take a stand, and change things
"now i know what this is all about now i know exactly what i am" well heres what i think, in the song from 3:33 to 4:14 hes been drugged or brainwashed into forgetting what he was supposed to do, and he know knows what his "purpose" is
"there is a seed inside of me (keeps growing)" hes realizing again that the seed(Chip) inside of him keeps taking over and i think it might start all over again (the process)
well thats what i think and i did notice there were some lyrics up there that weren't really in the song but oh well
I think it's basically about the speaker's anger towards something, and how it keeps getting stronger but he's trying to contain it.
Rosemary's Baby!
I agree that this album is a continuation of the year zero plotline. I think this and lights in the sky are related. The person's best friend, wife, mother, whatever, dies in Lights in the Sky, this person joins the army out of anger, desperation, whatever. I think this has to do with the drug that makes the soldiers ruthlessly violent. Demon seed as a nickname.
