i found a mistake in the lyrics.
the correct lyrics are actually:
"And I think I could Never love again The way that I loved WHEN I WAS TEN."
and:
"Don't know if I could love another again The way that I loved WHEN I WAS TEN."
and also:

it is not "a long time ago." but actually "when i was ten." i don't know how that couldve been mistaken for a long time ago but whatever..

I think this song talks about how nothing is ever as good as you remember the good things in your past. And also, not to worry so much about a relationship gone sour (or anything for that matter) because another chance for something good will come, in time.
