I Don't Need To Know Lyrics

I don’t need to know
Why the ocean’s blue, or how the flowers grow
I don’t need to live, waiting on someone to
Forgive me for my sins

Like my father before me
I’m a working man, a working man

But I don’t need to believe
In something that won’t save my sanity

No, I don’t need, I don’t need to know
No, I don’t need to know, oh oh
I don’t need to know, oh oh
I don’t need to know, oh oh

I don’t want to live, in a world
Where faces change from day to day
And I don’t want my life to be
So full of doubt and misery

The years now pass without a trace
It’s something that I’m learning to embrace
How most black nights I’ve spent awake
Thinking about how I don’t want to live that way

No I don’t want, I don’t want to live
I don’t want to live
I don’t want to live
I don’t want to live

I don’t know, but I’ve been told
If you don’t believe, the devil haunts your soul
If this is the truth, then to hell I’ll go
‘Cause I don’t need to know

I don't judge people who don't believe in God, even if I do believe in Him. But I still love Dallas Green's songs. And it seriously sounds like God Himself touched Dallas Green's voice box, because he has the most beautiful voice I've ever heard. Just simply listening to him could bring me to tears because it's just so overwhelming to hear him sing. <3

I think Dallas is expressing how he may see the values of most people differently. And how sometimes knowing makes you bad or different. So its better not to know. Or you can be doubtful... or "full of misery".

His mind is beuty. He's so amazing. To me, the song made me realize how I am not alone, but not knowing sometimes is best.

Its "the devils owns your soul" :)

I think this song is about not believing in God.

"I don't need to live, waiting on someone to Forgive me for my sins"

I really enjoy this song for it's positive take on the absence of religion. It's not just saying he doesn't believe in God, it's saying he doesn't find the need to. "I don't know to know why the ocean's blue or the flowers grow." It's pretty obvious what we is trying to say, and the upbeat music is definitely a contributor to the meaning. =) He doesn't feel the need to have some higher power explain the beauty of the world. Also, he knows that believing in God won't save him from misery and problems...He'll still be faced with life. While even there's a negative verse, it says "it's something I'm learning to embrace." These are really words I live by...He is embracing the misery and pain that he's given, he doesn't feel the need to pray to make it go away, he's just found a way to live with it. =) I adore this song.<3
