Black Rose Lyrics
I saw you in the garden I wanted you so much
I really thought that you were different Oh I couldn't get enough
I tried to save you from yourself I felt every high and low
now the lows have drowned the highs away now there's no where else to go
Black rose your thorns are cutting into me for the last time
Black rose I watched your petals wilt away I couldn't bring you back to life
You were always where the sun could never go
I never wanted you to have to be alone
But I couldn't find a way to help you grow
Black Rose
You never tell me how you feel and your moods they always change
I really tried to make it real but you never had the faith
I tried to give you something good to take the pain away
I tried to make you understand You don't have to be this way
I'm not the one who hurt you So why are you so scared
(I couldn't save you) (You are who you are)
All that you've been put through couldn't be repaired
(I couldn't break through) (we're too far apart)
I'm not the one who hurt I'm the only one who cares
(I couldn't save you) (You are who you are)
You'll need someone to turn to And I will not be there
(I couldn't save you)
Every time I held you I knew that it would hurt
Only through the pain I could find a way to learn
Black rose your thorns are cutting into me for the last time
I really thought that you were different Oh I couldn't get enough
now the lows have drowned the highs away now there's no where else to go
Black rose I watched your petals wilt away I couldn't bring you back to life
I never wanted you to have to be alone
But I couldn't find a way to help you grow
Black Rose
I really tried to make it real but you never had the faith
I tried to give you something good to take the pain away
I tried to make you understand You don't have to be this way
(I couldn't save you) (You are who you are)
All that you've been put through couldn't be repaired
(I couldn't break through) (we're too far apart)
I'm not the one who hurt I'm the only one who cares
(I couldn't save you) (You are who you are)

(I couldn't save you)
Only through the pain I could find a way to learn

This song is about how a girl that got hurt really, really bad in a previous relationship. She's dead inside, or more so like a black rose. She was truly in love with someone else, then moved quickly to a new relationship. The new guy (one of the band members I'm assuming) is trying so hard to make her see that he is different. He's trying to make her "grow" again. But she's not trying she just wants to be hollow inside, maybe not wants to be, but she got hurt so bad she's scare to do it again. "Black rose your thorns are cutting into me for the last time Black rose I watched your petals wilt away I couldn't bring you back to life" is saying he's done trying with her. He's done putting so much into their relationship, and he basically watched her die. Not literally.
I'd rather think, she is depressive and he tries (in vain) to help her live again. Like he says "You were always where the sun could never go I never wanted you to have to be alone But I couldn't find a way to help you grow" I think this song is about his decision to leave her, because he finally understood that her depression brings him down, too ("I tried to save you from yourself I felt every high and low now the lows have drowned the highs away now there's no where else to go") and that he can't help her anyway. He really tried to help her but he never reached her so he has to leave, before she hurts him too much. ("Black rose your thorns are cutting into me for the last time Black rose I watched your petals wilt away I couldn't bring you back to life") It's like he suffers from her depression nearly as much as she does, because he can't understand why she can't open herself even to him. ("I'm not the one who hurt you So why are you so scared") So it's the best for him to leave her. On the other hand I think he feels guilty - because he tries so often to explain that he tried to help her. He just wasn't able to. He don't seem to be quite sure if it's really the best to leave her. So he made himself suffer again and again to find the strength to make up his mind. ("Every time I held you I knew that it would hurt Only through the pain I could find a way to learn"
I feel this song relates to a guy who had fallen in love with another girl.
However, once he got to know her more, he realized that their relationship was unhealthy, yet he still found it difficult to let go.
This song means a lot to me because it is basically the story of my life. It's about a guy that really really loves a girl and would do anything for her to make her happy.. only he can't because she can't utilize what he tells her and she isn't capable of feeling the same way about him that he feels about her.
This is a great song... The guy is trying to get close to a girl who has been hurt before but she want let him in. And the guy is getting tired of trying and is giving up.. Its a great song!
I think this song is about a girl who he could not reach, he tries, shes been hurt, she's damaged goods and he realizes this so he has no choice but to let her be herself, he tries, he gives all he can but she can't find it in herself to accept, scared maybe? kinda like what the 1st 3 comments said. (not that yours is wrong freake) this song is ambiguous, so anyone can take it their own way. i think its about the girl thats hard to get, cuz i was that way with my current gf, took alot to let her get in, i pushed her away quite a bit and for what came to be no reason, but she was persistent and it paid off.
Wow...What a great song...I think it can apply to all kinds of relationships. For example, this song actually reminds me of a friendship my sister and I had with a troubled girl. She had a tragic childhood past, growing up motherless in a rough neighborhood. My sister and I befriended her and man was it one hell of a roller coaster ride...We loved her like a sister, trying to accept her for who she was, the good and the bad. But every time she hurt us, we would forgive her and make excuses for her behavior, telling ourselves that "it's just her defense mechanism" or "she is just acting out 'cause she's hurting inside...she had it bad," but after years of walking on eggshells and enduring constant mood swings, we realized that the only one who could help her...the only person who could really help this flower to "grow," was herself...we got cut by too many "thorns" and decided that we could no longer take the abuse. Hundreds of people have had crappy lives, but that doesn't give them the right to hurt others. Sadly, we had to let her go, but in our hearts, we will always wish her the best in life and hope that one day, the Black Rose will flourish in a beautiful garden.
To Me This Song Is Basically A Story Of A Guy Who Is Madly In Love But The Girl He Loves Is Hollow Inside, And He Doesn't Want To Watch Her Fall Into The Depression Of Her Life But No Matter What He Tries To Do She Just Keeps Falling And Falling More Into It, And Its Driving Him Away Cause He Is Getting Tired Of Trying Fruitlessly And Is Giving Up On Her Once And For All
I Kinda Related to this song once i first heard it cause me and my ex are kind of going through this, i was madly in love with her, i could never stand to be away from her, but she just drove me away, and im tired of trying to make her see that there is so much more to life than the pain we feel, so i decided to just give up on her completely
It's almot scary how good I can relate to this song. Which kinda makes me sad.
I absolutely love this song. And I agree with most of you that it is about a girl who's boyfriend is trying to get her back to her old self after she leaves a bad relationship or is left heartbroken.
And Trapt is awesome. Just sayin'.
