No Heaven Lyrics

young brother hand me the gun
on with it, off with it
i'm burning strong like the sun
i do believe, it's time for me

it's gonna hurt, but then i'm free

and i will be in heaven, with the angels
flying over water, i am free
there will be no darkness, no pain

and young brother right when i'm done
follow me, so we can be together
watch me as i put it to my head
hold my hand, don't turn your head

don't turn your head

soon i will be in heaven, with the angels
flying over water, i am free
there will be no darkness, no pain

the pain will be gone
and the anger will be gone
the depression will be gone
only love from everyone
soon as i pass one

ten, nine, eight
seven, six, five
four, three, two

one

oh old brother, what have you done
oh old brother, what have you done

what if there's no heaven, and you find yourself alone, walking through a tunnel and everyone has gone

and betrayed by the one
and you are conscious in your grave
brother what then
if there is no heaven

Almost 90% of the song talk about why the person was driven to commit suicide. The last half is from the other person who watched the first person died. I listen to it while I'm willing to die this way, and it's just funny. I cried like hell when I listened to the part,

"soon i will be in heaven, with the angels flying over water, i am free there will be no darkness, no pain"

My Interpretation

This song is about a guy who wants to die. He talks about how suicide will probably be painful but when he dies, he'll be free and he'll be with angelswithout a care and free from the things that drug him down in life. His little brother thinks "what if there is no heaven" and realizes if there isn't one, then his brother will be more alone than ever. not only that but his brother will still have a concious though he'd be physically dead and he will regret the decision to end his life. i fthere is no heaven, he'll drive himself crazy trying to undo what he did.

Pretty straight forward. Dude's brother is depressed, wants to end his life and wants his brother to follow him. Tells him heaven's a better place, and goes along with his plan.

His brother is so distraught that he questions whether there is a heaven or not.
