Come Saturday Lyrics

i can't stand to see your picture
on the dress where i left you
another sunny day
and you're 80 miles away, tuesday

but come saturday, you'll come to stay
you'll come to sway in my arms
who cares if there's a party somewhere
we're gonna stay in

come saturday, you'll come to say
maybe there's no harm
in a wasted summer with no drummer,
we're gonna stay in

i could stand to be a fixture
in a faded family picture
but i can't see into the sunset
all i know is that you're perfect right now

but come saturday, you'll come to stay
you'll come to sway in my arms
who cares if there's a party somewhere
we're gonna stay in

come saturday, you'll come to say
maybe there's no harm
in a wasted summer with no drummer,
we're gonna stay in

you don't have to write at all
you don't have to make a call
i know that you will come again and again
you don't have to dress to please
perhaps undress for me
i know that when you come we'll be staying in

I love the Another Sunny Day reference in this!

Reference to what? The Belle&Seb song?

also I think it's 'on the dresser'. Makes (a little) more sense - picture frame on the dresser in his room.

Another Sunny Day is an Indie-Pop band, probably not the Belle and Sebastian song.

Yes, a band that The Pains were inspired by!

Actually, it's possible it is a B&S reference... When I saw the Pains of Being Pure at Heart, Kip was wearing an If You're Feeling Sinister t-shirt, I think...

wasted summer with no drummer??? wut.

i think it might be drama. drama associated with summertime parties and the like.

anyway, love this song!

It's "drummer" according to the official lyrics. It's referring to the band not having a drummer, so the summer is "wasted" as far as the band goes, but it's okay because they're "staying in" anyway.

more sex puns!

I see it as a song of youthful longing. They don't have much time together or they don't see each other often. "I can't stand to see your picture..." "I don't want to be a fixture in your faded family picture..." the verses suggest they mostly see each other in treasured photographs. But Come Saturday they make the most of what they have and spend every waking hour together.

Of course it can't last forever "I can't see in to the sunset" But he's living in the moment and enjoying what they've got "All I know is that you're perfect right now"

Of course, maybe I'm being coy about the whole thing. There are some massive double entendre worked in there.
