The Way Down Lyrics
you know that actions speak louder than words
I thought we were past that, forget what you heard
Pay no attention, better to shut out the lights
Than to find yourself at home all alone thinking
Problems won't disappear
When I look you in the eye something isn't right
Problems will interfere
And I don't think we'll survive
I've built it up so high
My teardrop waiting for the fall out
(This must be the way down)
And in one stop everything's a burn out
(This must be the way down)
Everything was bound to change
Never going to the same town
(This must be the way down)
Everything was perfect 'til the train went right off the rail
Like we were passed out asleep at the wheel
When you know you've lost it, there's no one in control
And you will find yourself too high, better try just letting it go
Problems won't disappear
When I look you in the eye something isn't right
Problems will interfere
And I don't think we'll survive
I've built it up so high
My teardrop waiting for the fall out
(This must be the way down)
And in one stop everything's a burn out
(This must be the way down)
Everything was bound to change
Never going to the same town
(This must be the way down)
And now that the smoke is gone
I can see that I'm all alone
Forever
I need you to come back home
And now that the smoke is gone
I can see that I'm all alone
Forever
My teardrop waiting for the fall out
(This must be the way down)
And in one stop everything's a burn out
(This must be the way down)
Everything was bound to change
Never going to the same town
(This must be the way down)

amazing song, most amazing band.
i saw them in concert with metro station, and i met each member. their all so great, and so funny. (L)
im pretty sure in the chorus its actualy
"My teardrop waiting for the fall out (This must be the way down) And it won't stop everything's a blur now (This must be the way down) Everything was bound to change Never going to the same town (This must be the way down)"
Yeah, falling4 is rightt But, at least on the version that I have, it definitely does not sound like he's saying
"Never going to the same town"
maybe it's just the version I have?
I love, love, love this song. Probably my favorite from the album; I listen to it constantly. :)
This song seems to be about a failing relationship. In the first verse it sounds like the girl has heard some rumors about the guy, so she doesn't trust him anymore. He's telling her that he has (somehow) shown her the rumors aren't true (actions speak louder than words) so she shouldn't believe them (forget what you heard). He knows their relationship won't work (I don't think we'll survive; waiting for the fall out) if she doesn't trust him. She obviously didn't believe in him since he's left alone. :(
Yeah, he's definitely not saying "Never going to the same town"...
Corrections:
"And I don't think we'll survive I'll fall from up so high
My tears drop, waiting for the fall out (This must be the way down) And it won't stop, everything's a blur now (This must be the way down) Everything was bound to change Now I know I could've saved us (This must be the way down)
And now that the smoke is gone I can see that I'm all alone Forever has been long enough"
