The Gift of Discernment Lyrics

I'm drowning in darkness someone shine a light on me
Fixated on the outcome of all
Death whispers denouement the end is clear to me
Coping with sorrow I splinter the last straw

It's been a long, sad day
And this will only make it worse
As devils whisper angels pray
This gift will only be a curse

So this must be my hell but I can not discern
I set sail for Charon my soul the river Styx will burn

It's been a long sad day
And this will only make it worse
As devils whisper angels pray
This gift will only be a curse

Fire in the hole and glory be to God
Disregard the soul beneath a foot of sod
Bane of my existence and crux of my dismay
Salt packed into a gaping wound day by day

I'm washed in the misery bathing the soma
I pray for your mercy to vanquish this coma

This song has the most beautiful electric guitar melody at the end of the song. I've never heard something so emotionally moving; using no words to convey it. I cry nearly every time I hear the last 1/3 of the song.

The very first time I heard this song I loved it. Then the end of the song started to play and I literally stopped what I was doing to take it all in. It is just simply beautiful! So melodic, so pure, so rich. I just want to hear that playing in my head where ever I go! I really wish they were still together. They are the reason I listen to the "heavier" side of metal now...it all started with "Stoning Judas".
