You Lyrics
chorus x2
you love the people that love you
you hear the music they move to
you give your all to the fall through
but you don't know, you don't know
you don't know, you don't know you
you just got off work, huh?
another night feel like the worst one
you didn't even count your tips yet
but you can tell that it ain't no big step
i don't see why you so nice
to customers who are all fucks and lowlifes
don't fight, just keep the lip stiff
and get that money, it's the weekend shift
but why they all gotta be freaks?
wish they would just eat and leave
and keep they eyes to theyself
already insecure, don't need any help
and you can blame the pride
that makes you hold your anger inside
but deep down, you wanna curse them all
fuck off, asshole, jerk off, dirt ball
chorus x2
now attitude check
you still show up, you haven't quit yet
and even when your meek and speak
they still treat you like a piece of meat
outrageous, each day this clock tick tock
and you still a waitress
tryin to pay them student loans
and the lights and the phone and the food and the home
and you ain't quite broke,
but you couldn't afford that place on your own
got a room mate, split the rent with
now you never feel independent
and everything seems so hollow
'cause after work, where'd that smile go
better bring it back tomorrow
now pick up the pace and you might make bar close
perfect, last call then some
flirting, sexual tension
surfin through them men 'cause
they all searchin for that big one
but just one to bend and
you look like you could be my friend
with a smile like that, I gotta flirt, girl
you look like you just got off work

it's like she's trapped there, there's no other way, but to be a waitress. The lyrics are sad and call for some action on her behalf, but the beat is actually happy and comforting, which makes me believe that's she's not that unhappy.
such a fucking catchy song!!!!! probably my favorite so far... the whole album is kickass i think its fairly straight forward... chorus: how this girl cant find her identidy cuz the just copies everyone else verse: struggles working shitty job - cant find happiness, always focused on work.... going nowhere...
i think we all feel a little like this in some part of our life
not my favorite content wise but definitely catchy. love it (:
FAv ATmosphere by far, its good stuff
very catchy, upbeat song. i like it.
the lyrics are wrong
"surfin through them men cause they all searchin for that big one but just one to bend and you look like you could be my friend with a smile like that i gotta flirt girl you look like you just got off work"
it goes "They all searching for that BENT one....or just one to bend"
good song...some metaphors... just about how she cant escape something she hates because of insecurities and vulnerabilities
but it kinda says that
No metaphors at all. This is him writing a song literally about the girl waitress. And let me say, he is on point. I work at a bar as a waiter and then I cocktail drinks until 2 am. The people that come out say some really fucked up shit to the waiters. There ARE people in the world who do NOT know how to act in a restaurant or just don't know what goes on as an employee of a high-volume restaurant/bar. Oprah telling people to go out but "tip 10%" to save money in this economic hard-time doesn't help either.
Oh and the girls? Yea, they want to make an extra dollar or two so maybe that go down a button or two on their shirts. It's all so they can get more tabs and more money and are willing to flirt a little to do it. Yet, some men don't quite realize that, and I'm pretty sure that's related to some girls actually putting out with some guys. Trust me, I've seen it. BUT, that is a select few who set a standard for a majority. They just have to "keep their lip stiff" and kind of go with it/shrug it off because it's the weekend shift!
This all just seems like a sad page ripen out of an waiter/waitress' life.
He just took my lemons and painted that shit gold with this track.
yeah this song is reaaaaaaaally catchy. i was singing it out of nowhere today ;]
definitley a plus with atmosphere. yeah straight forward in the lyrics. no metaphoric shit here
yeah no metaphors, the meanings not hidden.
fucking dope song though.
