This song is about being in love with someone who you help through the hard times (the cold winter). You're saying that you'll always be there for them to protect them from harm (hand on your heart/I won't let it skip a beat). You know that they'll protect you too (hand on my heart/you won't let it skip a beat) and you trust them. They're the only person who really knows who you are and you feel safe with them. You're promising them that you'll never leave/hurt them even through the bad times (nights will come and go).
I think it's simplicity makes the song so good and I like the way there's an emphasis on "the cold winter" because it really creates that atmosphere.

The simplicity of the song is perfect. Alot of her other songs on her newer album were catchy and good but in an annoying way. This was deffintley sticks out.
So; I used to be a huge fan of ashlee's when I was younger, but I haven't really been getting into her new stuff. I did, however, but this song of her new album and I think it is beautiful. Its simplicity gives it such rawness and beauy in my opinion.
has anyone read the Twilight series? this song really reminds me of those books. and i thought it was weird how this song just happened to use the phrase "midnight sun". I know 99% of you won't know what I am talking about so i am sorry. haha.
I love this song. I play it 24/7, lol. I personally really like the part that goes "You're the only one who knows how to wake me", I think that's beautiful. To me, it sounds like she's saying that they're the only person who can really make her feel alive and stir all these emotions inside of her.
right, auberginedreams09. at first it reminded me of Twilight, but then i thought about it, and found little things when she sang that just didn't fir with my view of Twilight too well.
i can't really get into Ashlee's new music, but hearing this song, so mellow, so sweet, makes me like Ashlee's work even more. some songs are alright on the new album, but this beats them all.
