Yes, I'm Cold Lyrics

Yes, I'm cold, cold as ice
and so now you know
how our story is supposed to go
I say yes and then I'll say no

well you burnt a bird and then held it up
your collar now is a bloody cuff
cause you kept your heart inside your throat
poured your name into every note
a simple song could be a silent sigh
so every breath now signifies

This song is absolutely beautiful first of all. I think the first verse is talking about how he is acting cold with his previous love now. "I'll say yes and then I'll say no"-- maybe that has to do with his committment/indecisiveness. He first said yes to her, and now he's changed his mind.

The line "well you burnt a bird and then held it up" sounds like a reference from Fahrenheit 451 when the antagonist burn the pages of books and the main character thinks that they look like flaming birds flying around.
