Greyhound Lyrics
It's midnight at the depo
And I dragged my bags in lines
Travelin' light
I got to go, but the bus won't be on time
Everybody's lookin' half-alive
Later on, the bus arrives
They punch my ticket
And I find a seat
And we move out past the lights
Come on driver, where's your heat?
It's cold out, in the night
Keeps tellin' to myself
That I don't care
Come tomorrow
I'll be there
Take the Greyhound
It's a dog of a way
To get around
Take the Greyhound
It's a dog-gone easy way
To get you down
I'm tired of watchin' this night go by
So I look across the aisle
The window's frosted, I can't sleep
But the girl, returns my smile
She reminds me of someone I know back home
So I doze, so it goes
When you take the Greyhound
It's a dog of a way
To get around
Take A Greyhound
It's a dog-gone easy way
To get you down
I'm wrinkled on my stool, at the rest stop
Waitress bein' cozy with a highway cop
My coffee's tastin' tired
My eyes roll over dead
Got to go outside
To get the gas out of my head
Oh oh ooh
To be in bed
Got me drivin'
You got me drivin'
I'm on this Greyhound bus, and you're drivin'
But there's nothing new about Greyhounds
And there's nothing new about feeling down
And there's nothing new about puttin' off
Or puttin' myself on
Whoa Greyhound
Lookin' to tomorrow
That's the way the loser hides
I should've realized by now
That all my life's a ride
It's time to find a happy time
And make myself a friend
Well you know there ain't no rainbows waitin when this journey ends
Whooooa
Steppin' off this dirty bus
First time I've understood
It's got to be the going
Not the gettin' there that's good
That's a thought for keepin' if I could
It's got to be the going
Not the gettin' there
That's good
And I dragged my bags in lines
Travelin' light
I got to go, but the bus won't be on time
Everybody's lookin' half-alive
Later on, the bus arrives
And I find a seat
And we move out past the lights
Come on driver, where's your heat?

Harry is realizing that life is a jouney and it is only fulfilling if you have someone to share it with. Even something as mundane as traveling on a bus could be interesting and rewarding if you have a companion. He's frustrated because not only did he travel alone, but there is no one waiting for him at his destination.
