sounds like a group of people(cult) trying to talk to spirits and, well, Raise The Dead

That seems about right.
It's about conquering your inner demons.
The booklet that came with the CD says "father demons"
Also, Jeff says this about the song "Raise the Dead was a song that Alex wrote about halfway through the recording process that the band immediately embraced. It felt like a call to arms when we needed it the most. I think we were a little lost and this song united us and brought focus to the album.
I think this song is about reviving their careers (although they never really disappeared) and reminding them that they have to be united, as a band and as friends.
