Everybody Bleeds The Same Lyrics
If it's fear that you feel
The fear exists on a larger scale
Spin the world and stop it still
Anywhere you land, anyone you kill
You are gonna find that
Everybody bleeds the same
Everybody feels the same pain
And the preachers preach and they write it all down
Like they know, but the secret is
Everybody bleeds the same
I am you and you are me
We are the same mistake packaged differently
Who is your god when you pray
If you break it down to the DNA
You are gonna find that
Everybody bleeds the same
After all everybody feels the same pain
And the preachers preach and they write it all down
Like they know, but the secret is
Everybody bleeds the same
While soldiers pull the covers over their dead
Roll over to your lover
Say put your arms around me
Surround me in the darkness
And I'll pray to every god
My soul to keep
Cause I'm never ever gonna get to sleep
Help me dream
I wanna dream forever
Everybody feels the same
And the preachers preach and they write it all down
Like they know, but the secret is
Everybody bleeds the same
The fear exists on a larger scale
Spin the world and stop it still
Anywhere you land, anyone you kill
You are gonna find that
Everybody feels the same pain
And the preachers preach and they write it all down
Like they know, but the secret is
Everybody bleeds the same
We are the same mistake packaged differently
Who is your god when you pray
If you break it down to the DNA
You are gonna find that
After all everybody feels the same pain
And the preachers preach and they write it all down
Like they know, but the secret is
Everybody bleeds the same
Roll over to your lover
Say put your arms around me
Surround me in the darkness
And I'll pray to every god
My soul to keep
Cause I'm never ever gonna get to sleep
Help me dream
I wanna dream forever
And the preachers preach and they write it all down
Like they know, but the secret is
Everybody bleeds the same

To agxx: Not to be a dick, but what you wrote is pretty stupid. That really doesn't sound like something anyone would actually want, considering the leadership of civilizzations throughout history have ALWAYS used the threat of invasion to justify their invasion. That's because no one wants to die for resources, or for greed even if that's the true intent of the war no one wants to die for that. It's the idea one can protect the ones they love, or to find a purpose for their life in the very least that anyone is willing to join the military.
I could be way off target but I didn't see the song as necessarily being about war at all. I mean it could certainly fit that type of atmosphere and situation but I think he was aiming for something different. I think he's talking about how we as humans view others who are different from us and sometimes immediately and irrationally fear someone because they are different from us.
"I am you and you are me...If you break it down to the DNA" - I think this part is brilliant. He's just saying that we can be completely different on the outside, come from different places, worship differently, have different beliefs, values, morals, etc, but we're really all the same on some level, we all go through the same types of problems and go through similar experiences; essentially-figuratively and literally-we all bleed the same.
I think this song is kind of his little way of telling people that we need not be afraid of someone because they seem to be different from us; we need to get past any preconceived ideas we have about someone, any stereotypes and judgements we hold against someone before we get to know them. We just need to give people a chance to show their true colors.
But yeah, I could be way off, that's just what I got from the song...either way, I think as a whole, it's a pretty brilliant piece of work.

--
If you feel fear or intimidation, you're more likely to become hostile (Say for example a Caucasian in an Asian community and there is no way of avoiding it.) Examples: Stereotypes, Racial Disputes, Gossip. The ones who have existed there before are attacking this 'newcomer' without knowing what he/she is yet they are all connected, because at some point of their life they have been attacked in some way.

Everybody is similar, punch them and they will bruise, cut them they will bleed. No matter the person or thing we are not above of being human. Preachers and Priests pray for peace and tell us how to achieve it but the reality is, there is no teaching this. They can preach all they want but those who won't listen won't listen.

stvmvn815 I concur.

-- Meaning that soldiers and people weep the same way when somebody dies because of one of those racial or stereotypical disputes. People all around are still affected, continuing the cycle of hate and dispute. He prays that none of this will happen to him and everybody else in the world. But knows this is only a dream- it will not last.
Brilliant song by a brilliant man.
i think this song is about war. i'm not sure if it pertains to the wars in iraq or afghanistan, but i think the overall message is that no matter who it is who's killed, that person has a family, friends, people who he/she loves and people who love him/her back. at the end of the day, it doesn't matter which side you are on, because so many lives have been lost on both sides, and "everybody bleeds the same"....i hope that one day we don't have to invade another person's homeland in order to die for ours.
