Where Do We Draw The Line Lyrics

On your palm an endless wonder
Lines that speak the truth without a sound
In your eyes awaits the tireless hunger
Already looks for prey to run down

So why do we keep up this charade
How do we tell apart the time to leave from the time to wait

What does tomorrow want from me
What does it matter what I see
If it can't be my design
Tell me where do we draw the line

The dance of flames and shadows in the street
Make poetry nobody's ever heard
The weight of loneliness stands on your feet
The cage already there around the bird

So why don't we join the masquerade
Before it all falls apart before our love becomes insatiate

What does tomorrow want from me
What does it matter what I see
If I can't choose my own design
Tell me where do we draw the line

Where's the cooling wind
Where's the evergreen field
Where's my mother's open arms
Where's my father lionheart
S'like the sun's gone down
Sleeps in the hallowed ground now
With the autumn's browns leaves
With the one who never grieves

What does tomorrow want with me
What does it matter what I see
If we all walk behind the blind
Tell me where do we draw the line

Whatever tomorrow wants from me
At least I'm here, at least I'm free
Free to choose to see the signs
This is my line

" What does tomorrow want with me What does it matter what I see If I can' t choose my own design"

I think it's about someone sick of others telling him what to do and now he feels completely unimportant in this world.

"Whatever tomorrow wants from me At least I ' m here, at least I ' m free Free to choose to see the signs This is my line"

I think now he is finally set free to make his own choice. (Sorry if I'm wrong.Thats what I can think of this song since I am always being told by my parents what to do and desperately waiting for the day I will get to make my own decision )

My Interpretation

This really is a beautiful song, one of the best ever! For me it's about the girl having lost her love for the guy and already looking out for a new guy to replace him. And he is just waiting for her to say those final words, unable to take control of the situation, not knowing when it's time to go. He feels lost and is in need of love and security, but everything is gone.

Had some emotional moments listening to this...

It’s about a relationship. When one partner, may be the guy, is getting the idea that his love will not stand. Perhaps he is realizing that his love, the girl, is not serious about the relation. The words used in the song hold a lot of weight and the song is really heavy to understand. My special part of the song is “The dance of flame and shadows in the street, Make poetry nobody's ever heard, The weight of loneliness stands on your feet, The cage already there around the bird”. I see myself in this. I was in the...

There are many messages scattered around inside the song, all of a bitter choice which reflect either a real bitter experience or a a trial to make it look like that.

Eitherway, it's a beautiful song. Beautiful words. It means the world to me. First time I listened to it was 40 minutes ago, and it has been repeated eversince and I am not intending to change it to any other song tonight. Or tomorrow's night. Or the night after that.

For me, personally, it reflcets a current experience that I am living. The line "If it can't be my design, tell me where to draw the line" is very real and very suitable for my situation.

Goddamn women. Goddamn god. Goddamn music. I wish I was never born. I hate Poets of the Fall for making me feel.
