Hold Up Lyrics
(muffled talking)
Hold up! x8
Had enough of these modern times
About to drive me out of my mind
And you know this too well
I'm holed up in my little cell, yeah!
Hold up!
Hold up!
Hold up!
Hold up!
Friends took me to a freak show
But I think I've seen it all before, well
Can I get a look at you, girl?
Maybe take a peek in your world?
Hold up!
Hold up!
Hold up!
Hold up!
Hold up x12
Modern girl, you're so kind
You're gonna help me get through this time, well
And you know me too well
You didn't break a phone, you broke into my prison cell
Hold up!
Hold up!
I'm holed up!
Hold up, I'm holed up
About to drive me out of my mind
And you know this too well
I'm holed up in my little cell, yeah!
Hold up!
Hold up!
Hold up!
But I think I've seen it all before, well
Can I get a look at you, girl?
Maybe take a peek in your world?
Hold up!
Hold up!
Hold up!
You're gonna help me get through this time, well
And you know me too well
You didn't break a phone, you broke into my prison cell
Hold up!
I'm holed up!

This is a great rock-out song. "Hold up" stirs up thoughts of The White Stripes' "Little Room".
Good rock riffs and catchy lyrics. I like this song a lot.
Pretty simple, I think:
The character hates the modern age. Hence, he holes himself up in his own little world. His friends take him out and show him around, but he just feels jaded by everything he sees. However, a girl catches his eye and eventually opens him up/restores his faith that despite all of the problems in the world, there's still beauty in it.
Although the song is called 'hold up', i think it might be a little play on words and to me means 'holed up' all the way through the song... like in the first verse when he sings "holed up in my prison cell" and again when he talks about his prison cell.
This song reminds me, greatly, of Meg. They were doing an interview and she said, "I've always been suspicious of the world and have always kind of lived in my own world." Very remeniscent of Little Room as well. Great song.
sounds like a mix between the white sripes and led zeppelin
yeah play on words, on the one hand he's saying slow down, wait up (hold up) and the other is howhe's holed up against it all in his own world
so i definitely heard the lyrics wrong. i thought jack says pearl instead of world. i mean come on how cool is that "can i get a look at you girl? maybe take a peek at your pearl" oh well. would have funnier. i mean we know jack can be dirty. just listen to "top yourself"
