I Kissed a Girl Lyrics
I agree with VeggieXDawq. I mean people come on it's just a song. I myself am a proud bisexual and I think it's really catchy song. People need just to stop freaking out. I think its great that she was brave enough to actually write the song and put herself in front of the lions; I say bravo. I know I wouldn't be able to do what she did. Everyone experiments and I'm sorry if your the one who has been that girl or guy, but you sort of put yourself into that situation in the first place; you let yourself get taken advantage of especially if you don't know the person well. This is a pretty fun song and I like it.
@rainy_day09 nice to see there are actually people out there that have the same sexuality as me. I also agree. As a bisexual person, I think this is a very intruiging song.

whats the big deal? shes taking a risk what more people should do
It's a big deal because there was a need to a write a song about it. It's the same reason why most people probably wouldn't care to hear a song about taking a nasty shit. Some stuff is just better left unsaid or advertised to the world.

I didn't think it was a big deal. i thought it was quiet ingenious of her to grab the attention. She's pretty much just pointing out that what happens when you're drunk happens....and other stuff.. but so a girl kissed a girl.. it's not really that exciting. Although i like the McFly version better cos they don't change the words so four guys "hope their boyfriend son't mind it" haha

Sure, this song isn't exactly the equivalent of lyrical gold, but damn if it isn't catchy. Love it.
I agree completely with ecksohhhh, but adding in my own two cents in response to seraphicreverie;
I can see where you're coming from, but you're not looking at all the factors in creating such an argument. You have to look at history. The current generation, yes, is exposed to sex and homosexuality. Why? Because we're more accepting, we're less likely to discriminate against someone because of their sexuality - we're living in a time when we allow someone to express themselves sexually, regardless of their preference. In generations past, homosexuality was frowned upon, and that includes the experimentation that goes along with it. Of course people weren't going to open up about it! This generation embraces peoples' differences and choices. People now feel free to experiment to see what/who they rather without the fear of social isolation. Who's to say they're not aloud to do that?
But back to the song - it's pretty damn funky. I agree with chickacherrycola.
People need to lighten up a little. This song is catchy and makes me laugh. There are worse songs out there.
Oh I forgot to add: the sole purpose of this song is to get attention. Well done.
So okay, I'm thinking that this song is really lame. It's degrading, even.
"No, I don't even know your name It doesn't matter Your my experimental game"
Oh yes, let's use people. :/
Anyways, I agree with seraphicreverie.
It's not like she raped the girl, if the other girl was perfectly willing to make out with her and had no idea who she was or what her name was, then how is that degrading? They were both consenting to the act.

hey theinsider: I don't think MinneapolisSkanker was implying she raped the girl. & yes obv as you said both *might have been consenting to the act as as long as experimenting people let a gay/bi perspn know, then it's cool. MinneapolisSkanker is just saying how she feels about that kind thing but I dont' think Katie means she is going to use the girl for an experiment either. I as a gay girl would have not part in anythign like that because if you're gay/bi you know it you don't need to hum & haw & experiment. Personally, I think...

Personally, I think it's disgusting & wouldn't be a nice feeling if I kissed a straight girl who just wanted to have fun. & yeah, both girls might have been drunk,w which happens as you know & have said when ppl are drunk.
That being said, I think it's awesome that Katie is totally comfortable with kissing a girl & I think that's what she was trying to say to help gay/bi people & speak out/say it's ok. she's saying it's ok to kiss girls & she was cool with it & isn't going to be a homophobic asshole about it. I heard it the other day & think that's the point of the song.
MinneapolisSkanker I agree with you but I think Katie is just trying to be supportive & is saying that it's ok to be gay/bi & that she isn't a homophobic asshole

As a lesbian, this song makes me a bit queasy. Not that I have anything against bisexual people per se [as the saying goes, some of my best friends are bi], but when I look at the lyrics of this song, all I can read into it is...well, what about the other girl? The song completely overlooks the thoughts and feelings of the other girl mentioned in the song, which bothers me somewhat because in many situations, I have been that girl. No matter what people tell you about 'experimenting' it really isn't nice or 'cool' to mess with other people's feelings, especially if you could be leading them on. Though I'm glad this song promotes diversity and such, from my personal experience, I can't help but feel that the narrator is somehow undermining the sexuality of both herself and the girl she kissed. She should really be more considerate. WIthout reading that much into it, of course, I love the song itself--it's amazingly catchy and fun.
I'm a lesbian too and I think people just need to lighten up. You're right, she doesn't mention the feelings of the other girl, so you can't assume that the other girl had deep feelings for her, she could have been in exactly the same position, just experimenting. And of course it's not nice to mess with other people's feelings, but if some drunk straight girl with a boyfriend is kissing you at a party (girl that you've never met), then it's your fault if you get your hopes up about it, it's pretty obvious that it's a drunken experiment. Girls get drunk...

Girls get drunk and make out with me at parties and I always know it's just because we're drunk and then we have a good laugh about it the next day.
In my humble opinion, I don't think this song is degrading at all. It has a good beat and catchy lyrics. But to me, the whole idea of it is about her appreciation of how beautiful women are, and how soft and gentle we are compared to a lot of men. The fact that she talks about "the taste of her cherry chapstick" makes me think this because it's something that is particular and and unique about women, because most guys don't wear chapstick. And buggie92, way to be more degrading than this song by calling homosexuals "queers and lezzies." Who are you to tell us that we're not thinking for ourselves by supporting homosexuality? You're the one trying to cram your beliefs down our throats by telling us it's wrong.
Completely agree with all of that.
Completely agree with all of that.
I agree, Its offensive to bisexuals The lyrics are just about a drunken slut, its not about being confused at all
I think they released this so guys can just wank to it
utter shit
@greyinallshades tbh, I am bisexual and I am not really offended by this. I just think the tune is a little catchy.
