I laid on the bed with my child and rubbed his/her back until s/he fell asleep. Years ago I sang the Barney song, which was the only song that would bring sleep. Each time I look into his/her bedroom, I smile wondering what s/he's dreaming and if they are happy dreams. I hope so, especially since life gets so much more complicated as we age. If only innocence lasted a lifetime...
