Lay Your Hands On Me Lyrics

This old life seemed much too long
With little point in going on
I couldn't think of what to say
Words just vanished in the haze
I was feeling cold and tired
Yeah kinda sad and uninspired
But when it almost seemed too much
I see your face
And sense the grace
And feel the magic in your touch

(chorus)
Oh lay your hands
Lay your hands on me
Oh lay your hands
Woo-oo-oo-oo!
Oh lay your hands
Oh lay your hands on me

Back and forth across the sea
I have chased so many dreams
But I have never felt the grace
That I have felt in your embrace
Oh I was tired and I was cold
Yeah with a hunger in my soul
When it almost seemed too much
I see your face
And sense the grace
And feel the magic of your touch

(REPEAT CHORUS)

Now you made me feel so good
Yeah like I never ever thought I would
You know you make me feel so strong
And now our laughter just goes on and on
So c'mon lay your hands on me
Cause close to you is where I really wanna be
And if it ever gets too much
I see your face
And sense the grace
And feel the magic in our touch

(REPEAT CHORUS TO FADE)

No one commented on this song? I am amazed! This is easily one of my favorite Thompson Twins songs out there!

The beginning of the songs would indicate someone that is very depressed, possibly even suicidal. But as time went on, by luck or by destiny an answer came in the form of religion or love or both?

The term 'lay your hands' would indicate some sort of religious healing. It is still thought to this day that some gifted people possess the ability to heal others by concentrating and touching others in the area of affliction. In fact, modern day nursing encourages this technique and it is called "therapeutic touch".

My Interpretation

"We were interested in the idea of group rituals of that sort, and particularly how it relates to artist, performer, and audience. And of course we're not the first people to make use of that. Many, many, many artists have employed those kind of ideas, so it's not specifically biblical.

It's nonspecifically religious. It looks at religious ritual in that way, and then draws a kind of metaphor - I've always been very fond of the kind of layered metaphor where the song can be about one thing but also about another. That's part of a really ancient and noble tradition of religious writing of music.

Typically, people talk about their love for God in a religious song, but what they're also saying is that they love someone human. It's a way of evoking that immense emotional weight into a song." -Tom Bailey

@hitherto19711 Are you Tom Bailey? If so, do you still wear the clothes you wore on the King For A Day cover art?

And why was Future Days so poor compared to QS&SK and Into The Gap?

You still have hair envy from me.

The intro and outro parts sound like a theme from Metroid. My searches yield no one else making this comparison. This song predates it by merely a year.
