Mr. Magic (Through the Smoke) Lyrics

Every day i see you
My hands were made for you
And you always give me stress me free point of view
Pick you up after school

[Chorus:]
(Mr. Magic) Take a token
(Mr. Magic) Of my love
(Mr. Magic) I see you through the smoke

Without you, a misery
Blue with a migraine
All the songs sound better when you're next to me
Hey, coz they come naturally

[Chorus]

Laying on my bed
I reach over for you
And you so fresh you even make the standards bloom
But its just to you through

[Chorus]

(Mr. Magic)
(Mr. Magic)
(Mr. Magic)
Waiting for the smoke to clear
I'm waiting for the smoke to clear

Mr. Magic is code for weed in this song!

-you always give me a stress free point of view (weed relaxes her) -pick you up after school (picking up bud from your dealer after school) -take a token (practically sounds like take a toke)

Lyric correction: to me it sounds like, "blue without my green" instead of "blue with a migraine" which would make more sense, she's saying she's sad when she has no weed to smoke.

and c'mon, we all know songs sound like the shit when you're high!

damn Amy's so creative, this is such a bomb ass metaphor

"but it's just to you through", i think it's "burn the tip to get you through", when you burn the roach to get the last bit of weed

i dont care that she is talking about weed i still love the song.

very good song , a bit funny too, sometimes I think of it as of the song sung by a weed smoker. she 's high, dreaming about a perfect lover, whom she's seeing through the "smoke" ;) she believes he's true , and is waiting for the smoke to clear. but when it fades... :DDD ok that's just what I thought once, the song is great

The lyrics aren't printed in the liner notes, so I'm just guessing, but it sounds like "Take a toke (and) all my love." Also, I agree that it sounds like "blue without my green." Definitely a song about weed. Lovely lyrics and tune.

I just saw a video of her singing this on YouTube and the lyrics are much easier to understand. She says "I'm blue without my green." And she definitely is singing "Take a toke, and all my love."

There are no credits for this song in the liner notes, so I thought she wrote it, but apparently it's not original to her. Someone on YouTube said she wrote the lyrics, but I'm skeptical. You know how much misinformation is on the net!

I love this song...but I didn't really understand it so I came on here and you guys pretty much confirmed what I thought....It's about weed!!!!

Definitely about the love of weed. 'Blue with a migraine' were the censored lyrics it's actually 'blue without my green', Green being slang for cannabis! x

The song is definitely an amy original...roberta flak? has a credit for a song same name, different song. And if there's any doubt of the meaning...check out addicted. Amy was not afraid to sing of her live for the green...shes just genius at couching her double meanings. Genius

Can "blue without my green" also be a reference to "Blue in green"? Miles Davis, anyone?
