No Time Soon Lyrics
This could be one of those days
When we must go our separate ways
Scared for you to be out of my sight
'Cause you never know... you might
And I carry this... it's heavy!
I miss you... already!
You were perfect, babe
My time will come, yours too
I'd gladly go before you
I hope you live forever
Or maybe we can go together
It'll be perfect, babe
And I carry this... it's heavy!
I miss you... already!
You were perfect, babe
When we must go our separate ways
Scared for you to be out of my sight
'Cause you never know... you might
I miss you... already!
I'd gladly go before you
I hope you live forever
Or maybe we can go together
I miss you... already!

Love the beat to this song.
To me this song seems to be about the death of a loved one. Also I believe the second verse is: "My time will come, yours too. I'd gladly go before you. I hope you live forever. Or maybe we can go together."
With this in mind I definitely think it's about a death, and how he finds it hard to come to terms with and wishes the person would outlive him, such is his love for them.
The first verse sort of makes me think it's about suicide ("Scared to let you out of my sight, 'cuz you never know... you might") A person who is insecure and whom he suspects is considering suicide?
Also, the synth solo that comes in at 1:40 gives me a real vivid image of someone floating towards Heaven. Although maybe that's just me, but this song means a lot to me so just throwin' that out there.
I think the song is about his mother. Cee-lo lost both of his parent, his father at a young age and his mother i think when he was 18. She had cancer. So I think the song is about the time when a person is dying and they are not the same person you knew them to be. "I miss you already". The song after tihs one "She knows" is also about his mother. I read that in a article somewhere. So the two tie in together.
This quote pretty much sums this song up for me
Death is not the greatest loss in life. The greatest loss is what dies inside us while we live. -- Norman Cousins
I can confirm that this song is about Commander Shepard reflecting upon the meeting on Horizon.
