this is the best song off The Odd Couple, I love it. but I think the girl says "I bet you probably couldn't tell, although you're worth it I'm still not well"
Is this song about wanting help, but not having enough balls to actually ask for it? cause you think you'll be looked down on..
To me its about a couple who have split up and now that he has freedom, it is not "free" because it has cost him so much in terms of now realizing the things he misses about her.
He discusses that maybe if he helps someone he'll have mercy because charity is essentially a selfish act; he does it to feel good about himself, which he usually doesnt feel now that she's gone.

yes i agree, this song is clearly about helping others before yourself mostly because you are unable or others are unwilling..i mean come on the song is titled "charity case"

I believe this song is about a person who has some issues in their life that they wont open up about. All they need is someone who will notice the problem talk to them about it. Once you realize how you need someone to talk to, you will notice that other people have the same type of problems. Now you talk to them about it and help them through it without worrying about your own problems.
