Cursive Eve Lyrics
You were born wrapped in the pages
The words bind your mind and body
A false comfort of thin paper
You're claimed as unclean property
They say you need guilt to be good
Your brothers all remain blameless
Heart of snares and nets, hands as bands
Classified as a nameless mass
Don't look down on me
I don't look up
Kneel
Here youre not scared to die
Beg
Those dogs will lick and drink you dry
Kneel
Eat the pretty cursive lie
Beg
And you will not be scared to die
They say "In you lives an Eve" and
"Thy desire rules over thee"
"Thou shall not let witches live"
The fiction binds your mind and body
Give you away to male angels
The leaders all remain shameless
Wash away rains ancient marking
Please beg yourself for forgiveness
Must thy sorrow multiply
Thy conception in sorrow
Thou shall live in the silence
With all subjection
He may hear false answers
He lets the voices in
Must thy sorrow follow
Visions in his head
The words bind your mind and body
A false comfort of thin paper
You're claimed as unclean property
Your brothers all remain blameless
Heart of snares and nets, hands as bands
Classified as a nameless mass
I don't look up
Here youre not scared to die
Beg

With all subjection
He lets the voices in
Must thy sorrow follow
Visions in his head

In a general sense, Cursive Eye is a song about the Bible and Old Testament Christian theology. The first section of the second verse reads like a sermon:
"They say 'In you lives an Eve' and / 'Thy desire rules over thee' / 'Thou shall not let witches live' / The fiction binds your mind and body"
Eve, witches, male angels, all Christian icons; many of them very paternal or even misogynist in nature.
But unlike Christian Rock bands that glorify Christian belief and generally represent an intrinsic form of worship, Cursive Eye speaks of bondage rather than salvation. It talks about being born wrapped in the false comfort of thin paper (of the Bible) and likens Biblical devotion to BDSM with the chorus:
"Kneel / Here youre not scared to die / Beg / Those dogs will lick and drink you dry / Kneel / Eat the pretty cursive lie / Beg / And you will not be scared to die"
The song 'Cursive Eve' seems to be more about the curse women have carried throughout all history and how the lie has affected how women are treated by men in society.

Women have always been used as bait or 'snares' and used as objects while men have not.

This talks about how...
This talks about how women are made to kneel and beg to men and accept the cursive lie passed on by Eve; both her and Adam had slightly different curses put upon them, Eve's was to answer to man and struggle to be considered equal. This is reflected in history:
"They say "In you lives an Eve" and / "Thy desire rules over thee" / "Thou shall not let witches live" / The fiction binds your mind and body"
Generally speaking it is the woman who is insulted with the words like 'In you lives an Eve' accusing them of being manipulative and rebellious.
"Give you away to male angels / The leaders all remain shameless"
In the Bible men gave women 'mostly their daughters' away to the fallen angels who lusted after them in exchange for technology and forbidden knowledge. In Egyptian mythology and many other ancient cultures 'God's', 'Fallen Angels' or 'Aliens' who married these women taught them dark arts and witchcraft.
"He may hear false answers / He lets the voices in"
Referring to men looking down on women because of the history and things that have been said by their fathers.
mmm... the chorus is just delicious. it's an outcry against human nature, i think. The way we are born, are destined, and live. to exactly try to figure out each statement is not worth it; this song is more of an impression rather than a direct meaning.
