Not Now But Soon Lyrics

Not now but soon
The most beautiful light
Will wake us to pillow fighting excitement

Not now but soon
Bright into every corner
Satellites manoeuvre in beams of change

Standing by the best days of our lives
Magnificent, the best days of our lives
Big bang boom, the best days of our lives
They're coming right up
If we can just get through this one

Who said it was over?
It's as good as it gets
Well we've got a few tricks up our sleeves yet

If we swallow, "it's all over"
And open wide on these make-to-believe
Sullen, chewed up, sodden soliloquies
Oh, we’re sweet nothings anymore

Terrifying best, days of our lives
We’re hanging on the best days of our lives
No two ways about it, best days of our lives
They’re coming right up, if we can just get through this one.

I’ll hang on grab onto your feet
Someone else holds tied to my shoelaces
When their trouser leg tears,
Runs and stops at the seam to keep us dangled together
Until help finds us here

I’ll hang on grab onto your feet
Someone else holds tied to my shoelaces
When their trouser leg tears,
Runs and stops at the seam to keep us dangled together
Until help finds us here

Best days of our lives
Better be the best days of our lives
Bring on the best days of our lives
Coming right up, woah
Coming right up
If we can just get through this one

Well, it ended differently than I thought it would based on the previews, I do love the music though, and the sounds of immi running is awesome :3

If I had been listening to this from the complete cd, I'm afraid it would've got the "Closing In" treatment - that is, it's not a bad song and the lyrics are interesting (not much up for interpretation, but hey it was for a show!), but I feel it would've been overshadowed by more standout tracks -- it happened for me on S4Y with Closing In (and Daylight Robbery for the matter)

After you come down from the high of your favorite tracks, you start to appreciate songs like this. Luckily, this song has come out before the cd, so people will have time to warm up to it and let immi tweeking it more if she wished to do so.

i LOVE this song because it really resonates with me at this point in time and i love the mellow music she's set the lyrics to.

it's about being bored with a monotonous life, or just a life that you're not happy with generally and keeping that hope up that soon, things are going to get a lot better, and staying optimistic. i love this song so much!

all right. the lyrics are reposted, but i broke up the meanings into little sections, because i worked through them bit by bit. hope it makes sense. before i post, i just wanted to say that this is a beautiful song and imogen heap is one of the most ingenious lyricists in the world. here it goes...

Not now, but soon The most beautiful light will wake us to pillow fighting excitement Not now, but soon Bright into every corner, satellites maneuver in beams of change (She’s speaking to someone and telling them that soon, they’ll wake up to a beautiful dawn and they’ll be so excited that they got through such an endeavor, that they’ll pillow fight because they’re so happy. And that the ‘satellites’ will ‘beam’ in change and that everything will be better)

Standing by the best days of our lives Magnificent, the best days of our lives Big bang boom, the best days of our lives They’re coming right up, if we can just get through this one (Still – same thing; they’ve just got to get through this terrible situation that they’re in, and the best days of their lives will be coming)

Who said it was over? It’s as good as it gets. Well we’ve got a few tricks up our sleeves, yet. (She’s saying that they can’t give up now and that they’ve got ways of handling the bad situation that they’re in) If we swallow “it’s all over” and open wide on these make-to-believe Sullen, chewed-up, sodden soliloquies Oh, we’re sweet nothings anymore (She’s saying that they can’t accept that it’s all over, and yet they can’t bitch and cry about whatever is happening because either way they’ll lose and be ''sweet nothings'' - They’ve just got to wait it out and deal with it)

Terrifying best days of our lives We’re hanging on the best days of our lives No two ways about it, best days of our lives They’re coming right up, if we can just get through this one (Still – same thing, she’s just reassuring the person that they never have to give up)

I’ll hang on, grab onto your feet Someone else holds, tied to my shoelaces When their trouser leg tears, runs, and stops at the seam, to keep us dangled together ‘til help finds us here. (I think this middle eight is about friendship, basically. She’s turning to this person that she needs support from and is using the metaphor of being off the edge of something and she has to hold on to him or her, while someone else is holding on to her shoelaces for ‘support’ and being pulled down by whatever is troubling them. Meanwhile, their trouser leg tears, they have to wait until someone else helps all of them. Sort of a “you got my back, I’ve got your back” situation, so to speak)

Best days of our lives Better be the best days of our lives Bring on the best days of our lives Coming right up, whoa Coming right up if we can just get through this one

I don't know...I'm not sure if I like this song or not.

Cover art for Not Now But Soon lyrics by Imogen Heap

well its obvious what the song is about, but with most of imogen heaps songs whats interesting is that it can be applied to so many different areas of life. for example: this was my favorite song when I was highly addicted to oxycodine, which was just a horrible dark, dark, depressing period in my life. I still listen to this song, think back and start crying sometimes. listen to it again and think about it from a drug addicts point of view, it puts a whole new spin on it. not that thats what its about specifically, but thats whats so great about it, that you can relate to the song no matter what kind shitty thing is going on in your life and its still so meaningful and such a powerful song and it can give you hope even though its just a song. one of my favorites.

Wow, thanks for your view on it mann :-)
